On the evening of 2 April, 2013 I visited Rosie McCann's Irish Pub with my daughter and 6 year-old grandson. I ordered a pint of Guinness and the Shepherd's Pie. My daughter ordered the same. i lived in Ireland for two years from 1985 to 1987 and in Bristol, England from 1996 to 1997. Shepherd's Pie is one of my favorites and it is a dish that we have in our house. I know what Shepherd's pie should be like. The Shepherd's Pie served to us at Rosie McCann's was extremely disappointing and more appropriately, a ripoff! The balance between the mashed potatoes and the meat and veggie filling was backward's. Almost an inch of mashed potatoes covered a mere 1/4 inch of meat and veggie's. it should be the other way around. This was not only a ripoff, but a disservice to what Shepherd's Pie should be. I mentioned to the waitress that she should pass my comments to the chef as regards the balance of meat/veggies and mashed potatoes. i paid the bill and left.
