“Not a true Shepherd's Pie”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

On the evening of 2 April, 2013 I visited Rosie McCann's Irish Pub with my daughter and 6 year-old grandson. I ordered a pint of Guinness and the Shepherd's Pie. My daughter ordered the same. i lived in Ireland for two years from 1985 to 1987 and in Bristol, England from 1996 to 1997. Shepherd's Pie is one of my favorites and it is a dish that we have in our house. I know what Shepherd's pie should be like. The Shepherd's Pie served to us at Rosie McCann's was extremely disappointing and more appropriately, a ripoff! The balance between the mashed potatoes and the meat and veggie filling was backward's. Almost an inch of mashed potatoes covered a mere 1/4 inch of meat and veggie's. it should be the other way around. This was not only a ripoff, but a disservice to what Shepherd's Pie should be. I mentioned to the waitress that she should pass my comments to the chef as regards the balance of meat/veggies and mashed potatoes. i paid the bill and left.

“Great Place to be, anywhere, anytime with everyone”
Reviewed April 14, 2013 via mobile

The service was the greatest, I heard others complain but they came in drunk from a bad experience. They gave the server a bad time. If it were me I would had refused them service.
You get what you give. Prices are right plenty selection, only place where you get it your way. Try that anywhere else. Great Job Kel and everyone of the servers.

“Flat beer, poor service”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

The cocktail waitress was cute but she kept serving, bussing and saying, "I'll be right back." My cocktail was okay, my date's beer was flat. The waitress said she could get us a new one "if we wanted", she could get us a drink menu with all the beers listed "if we wanted". The closest they have to a local beer is SF steam and something from Chico. Chico? We had thought about ordering some appetizers but after watching others being served while we waited, we decided that it did not look appetizing. The bar stools were full (happy hour) and the front room with the Pacific Ave view was cordoned off for diners. The back room has 2 TV's but with no game on it is just unpleasant almost to depressing.

Great pub with great pub food! Very fun atmosphere. Always good food, with some of the best fish and chips around, served with a great pint! at just the right temperature.

“Happy hour value”
Reviewed August 25, 2012

Friendly bartender, good atmosphere, several beer choices on tap, half-off happy hour drinks and food. Great way to wrap up your afternoon!
