The manager and staff were more than accommodating for 3 wet couples coming in on motorcycles. We were given beautiful, clean rooms with views of the beach and bikes (which were very safe!) Dryers to use and taxi service called promptly upon request. Best of all...the Price!!! We've been to Santa Cruz countless times and have always wanted to stay at the "cute place on top of the hill" but never have...we finally did and now wonder what took us so long!!! Great weekend getaway for couples but would not recommend for kids...(no pool)!

Three couples stayed Sunday, October 17, 2004. The rooms were small but clean. Bathroom shower was also small and no hairdryer. It was raining so the six of us were out on the 'common' deck on the second floor talking and having a drink. Small overhang but we kept dry. Hope that we didn't disturb anyone. One couple said that their gas heater made a noise every few seconds and they didn't get much sleep. When they told the manager the next morning, he said that he appreciated it and would get someone to look at it. Neither apology nor compensation... We left our bathroom window cracked to get some air because the room was too hot. I also agree with an earlier comment about the manager sitting next to the breakfast pastries and watching what you took. Very small lobby so he probably doesn't have anywhere else to sit. Our stay was just to sleep so I cannot make a comment about the surrounding area.

Stayed here for one night recently- enticed by Trip Advisor reviews.
Easy to find, great location, nice people.
Sparkling clean.
Rooms small - large people might find them difficult.
It was great to have some outside chairs to sit on while admiring the view.

Our meal at the restaurant just down the hill ( on your left as you go onto the wharf) was our only bad eating experience of our trip to California - and it was expensive. Suggest you go along the wharf.

Recently, I had the good fortune to stay at the Seaway Inn in Santa Cruz. I returned to Santa Cruz with cousins to spend a nostalgic few days in the place of our childhood vacations. What a pleasant surprise! The Boardwalk, wharf, and surrounding areas were very tidy.....Disneyland clean! The motel's location was perfect.....easy walk to wharf and Boardwalk and as clean and well kept as my standards at home. The manager was so accommodating....making sure we were happy with our room and gave lots of helpful information about activities to take in while we were there. He had spent many years in the area and knew it well. His enthusiasm was contagious.....we will definitely go back and let friends know, the Seaway Inn is the place to stay in Santa Cruz.

The Seaway Inn is a charming, friendly, small inn. It is exceptionally clean and comfortable. It has expansive views of the boardwalk and the ocean. I particularly liked the fact that once my car was parked I did not have to drive it anywhere, everything was a short walk away, even the downtown area is close enough to walk. The manager is very friendly and a great resource for suggestions for activities in the area. Room rates are reasonable for the beach area on the West Cliff walkway. I recommend it for anyone looking for the hidden gem.

I had a Wonderful Experience at The Seaway Inn. The room's and ground's where so clean and very comfortable. They burst with color. The manager and staff where very friendly and helpful. I guess you could pay less or more, but why when you have everything you need in this charming hotel on top of the hill. Its the best of both. Thank you all for a most enjoyable stay, I will be back again and again.
