My husband and I went for dinner here June 2011 at the recommendation of someone at our hotel because it was within walking distance. We absolutely loved the atmosphere, the food, and the service. It's a little pricey, but we enjoyed the experience. When we went back to Santa Cruz this February, we had to eat there again. We were just as happy with our dining experience. We plan to go back every time we're in Santa Cruz.

I was born & raised in Southern California where Mexican food is a staple. The El Palomar is by far the BEST Mexican food I have ever had! They make their own corn tortillas - YUMMO! The service was great, margaritas fantastic - can't wait to go back.

We sat on the patio/cantina. Nice atmosphere, however a bit noisy.

We wanted to get something to eat, have a drink and relax to watch the game. The bar/restaurant at the Palomar was perfect. Great service, excellent drinks and great tacos. The salsa was very good. The mole sauce was not the best, but it wasn't bad. Just not what I would normally prefer, it was almost like a red ranchero sauce and not traditional mole. Next time it will be tacos or burritos, which were both excellent.

Head to the back of El Palomar Restaurant in order to find the Taco Bar. This hidden gem serves up great tasting tacos at an affordable price. The homemade tortillas, the salsa and the cabbage greens are spot on! We sampled five different types of tacos and none of them disappointed. A winner!!!

Nice setting, poor service, overpriced. ATROCIOUS food, has nothing to do with Mexico. Super greasy food, sloppy presentations. Only thing to do here that's "safe" is to get drunk at the bar.
