“Our favorite place”
Reviewed January 12, 2014

My husband and I love the Beach Street Inn for the beach ambiance, the beautiful ocean view, the sounds of the barking sea lions, the walkability of the location, the Picnic Basket nearby, and the friendliness of the Inn staff. At night, the moon reflects off the ocean and I could listen to the sounds of waves forever. The adirondack chairs are perfect for sitting outside and enjoying the ocean breeze. The inn and the beach location are lively places, but that is what I love about Santa Cruz--it is a rare old-style beach town. Our twenty something adult children love the Beach Street Inn too for the liveliness of the location. Our rooms have always been very large by most standards, perfectly decorated for "beachiness", very clean, and comfortable beds. Our I-Pads and I-Phones worked perfectly once we signed onto the network. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Santa Cruz.

Thank you so much for your great review! We are so happy to hear that you had a wonderful stay with us. We are also very happy to hear that the internet worked well for you on all of your devices. We have worked hard to resolve previous internet connectivity issues and are very happy to have the problems resolved.

We look forward to having you as our guest again on your next trip to Santa Cruz!

My husband and I took our 2 kids (ages 2 and 4) here for a few days last week. We were so excited about the 2 twin beds that pulled down from the wall and separate bedroom with king bed. Fantastic view of the pier and beach. Loved waking up to see the ocean and hear the sea lions barking. The kitchen was small, but perfect for what we needed - no giant meal making, just breakfast and warming up restaurant leftovers. The shower had one head (not two like I think it advertised), and no bath tub. The décor of the place was very beachy and fun - great ambiance. Fire pit and s'mores kits for sale. Free parking.

Here were the (minor) downsides: 2 massive TV's, but the picture quality was poor, almost like the picture was too stretched out. We tried to use our IPAD, but we couldn't get a Wifi signal in our room. King bed is hard. We didn't mind this, but if you prefer a softer mattress, you might. Room is bright in the morning and at night, even with all shades drawn, from street lights. The blinds in our bedroom wouldn't close so we ended up covering them with blankets. Also, our keys lost their magnetization 3 times in 3 days and wouldn't work, so we had to go to the office and get new ones. This was a little irritating when it was late and we just wanted to get in our room. Even with those little blips, we really liked the place and will stay here again.

Last year my husband and I celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary across the street at the Dream Inn. We would have gone back this year but they didn't have any one-night stays available which is where the Beach Street Inn comes in. Luckily for us we were able to book for one night and to be honest we both could have stayed longer.

I was impressed when a real person (Andre) called to confirm our reservation the day before and switched our room to slightly better digs upon hearing we were visiting for our anniversary. The room itself was clean, had a mini kitchen with fridge & microwave, and a huge shower. The corner location was perfect and we were lucky enough to chat with friendly neighbors who had just swam the charity event around the pier we watched last year. Good vibes.

No doubt we would have taken advantage of ordering in-room service from the Picnic Basket, which continued to satisfy on this trip, had we stayed longer than one night. Good lattes, tasty ice cream from their sister business Penny Ice Creamery, my husband liked his jelly-filled donut and double espresso.

We'll definitely return and make sure we stay more than one night.

During our honeymoon we visited Santa Cruz outside of the holiday season. We didn't have a hotel booked. We found this place on the sea front right by the wharf. I loved it. Great views, great service, very clean and very well kept. Careful when you go to Santa Cruz as when we were there, albeit during the week nothing was open down at the funfair but the place is beautiful and this hotel was great for location and service.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view room if you can afford it.

We really enjoyed our two night weekend getaway at Beach Street Inn and Suites. it is the best location. It is right near great family style restaurants as well as the Beach Board Walk. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite that had a separate living room area with couch, table with 4 chairs and full kitchen. It was great to re-heat pizza in the oven the next day and not have to buy food out again. The pool was awesome and we loved that the whole suite had hardwood floors (instead of carpet). The shower is huge and wonderful. The front desk staff was really nice and loaned us some playing cards since we forgot ours. We will for sure be back.

Stayed here on Thanksgiving day/night, since our SJSU student couldn't come home (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) for the holiday. Great, friendly service, clean and comfortable room. Ocean view, hardwood floors, decor - all outstanding. We WILL be back!

Beautiful room, perfect first terrace deck area..nice place to watch the sunrise or sunset. Right across the street is the Ideals bar and grill which not only provides a nice place to eat but can be great late night entertainment. Nice view of the beach.
