My family of four stayed here in early June 2012. We had booked one night and once arrived decided to stay two nights. The Management team was very helpful with booking us the extra night and made it so we stayed in the same room.
Loved the central access to the beach, pier and restaurants. The rooms were renovated and clean. I loved sitting out in the adirondeck chairs each night looking over the beach and ocean. If I were to change one thing it would be the blinds/curtains to help make the room darker so that we had more time to sleep in. ;) Great great visit. Hope we can do it again!

Room Tip: ask for one facing the beach.

I've stayed in a room by the pool, and another on the first terrace. The view from the terrace was great, and a nice retreat from the hussle of tourists down below. Both rooms we're great with overly comfy pillow top beds that gave me some of the best sleep in my life. The staff is incredibly friendly and they take your stay seriously. Living in the area this is where I would go for all my staycations, and with it being close to the boardwalk and downtown makes for easy access to fun within walking distance.

Hands down the best hotel I've ever stayed at.

Dear Owners and Staff,

Thank you all for such a wonderful stay. Our room #206 was the perfect room for viewing all the activities on the beach, pier and fireworks.

We look forward to staying here again and again making this a family tradition on 4th of July week.

Warmest Regards,

Paul, Amy & Madeline Fessa

First the pros: We were able to get early check-in (1pm) by calling in advance. The room was clean, the kitchen sufficient with full size fridge, stove, oven, utensils, plates,... The hotel is right across the beach, the volleyball courts and public bathrooms to be exact. The bathrooms didn't smell, so that's not a problem. The restaurant there however, played pretty loud music all afternoon and until about 10-11pm. That didn't bother us too much. The thing that bothered us is that the balcony is open to the other hotel guests. A group of friends/families stayed right next to us. When we got there, they were skateboarding and scootering back and forth, back and forth. People walking to and fro... it got old very quickly. You can access the joined balconies from the outside (although secured only to hotel guests). We complained to the front desk and they were very prompt in talking to the other families. It got a bit better. But a bit awkward as we see the other hotel guests every time we're out in the balcony. I would have constructed some kind of separation between the rooms - maybe planters, or something. That really soured our trip. It is also really quite noisy at night since we're right off the street. I wanted to leave the windows open to hear the waves, but then you hear people skateboarding, loud cars,...

Room Tip: Get the rooms farther away from the street, it's quieter.

Management response:Responded July 15, 2012

Thank you for your feedback. The layout of the property provides for an interactive atmosphere, especially on the “first terrace” above the main beach. Alternatively, the “Third Terrace” has rooms and suites with semi-private decks that allow for a more private view of the ocean and surrounding scenery. If you are seeking a more isolated experience, please reserve a “third terrace” room.

We were looking forward to seeing the updates at the Beach Street Inn on our recent trip to Santa Cruz and were very impressed with the rooms and facilities. The staff is very friendly and this is a great place to stay. I especially enjoyed having a wet bar, microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker in our room. The rooms are spacious and the shower with the 2 shower heads is amazing. Most rooms have ocean views and there is a wonderful pool on property, across the street from the beach. This is a wonderful spot for families and couples alike.

Room Tip: All rooms are either ocean view or pool view.

I had to attend business dinner in Santa Cruz on June 27th and chose to stay at Beach Street hotel right by the amusement park. The new owner has completely renovated the property and I was pleasantly surprised by the upgrades to the rooms. I had an ocean view room and surprisingly it was very quiet. Great place to stay if you are bringing the family to enjoy the Santa Cruz Board Walk since you never have to move your car. The furnishings are great, bed very comfortable, and rooms very clean. Highly recommend it for your visit to Santa Cruz

Room Tip: Ocean View rooms are fantastic

Great location right across the street from the beach and pier - friendly and helpful staff - but best is the great views directly at the beach, bay and pier - the new remodel with artistic tiles in the large shower, wet bar, microwave and fridge.
And the weather was fantastic as well!

Room Tip: Book early, try to get top level - tier 3, closer to parking, great views
