You get what you pay for and this place is PERFECT as far as location goes. It's right behind the boardwalk and about a 10 min walk to downtown. Not the greatest place to stay, but if you're just looking for a place to sleep, it legitimate. Look on Expedia. for the best deal on the room and if you mention yelp.com, they allegedly give an extra discount.

We appreciate staying with us on your trip to Santa Cruz. Our goal is to provide you with a clean, comfortable and a safe room. As we are a 1.5 star limited service property, we do not have all the bells and whistles which higher class hotels do.We always try to make your stay comfy. We hope to see you back.

Dell the owner was an awesome innkeeper. He made you feel right at home. This family run inn is older but very comfortable with a great location. We started our week in one room which had a great bed, bath and tv. My husband discovered they had a suite with a hugh balcony patio for not much more, so of course we upgraded. This room as all rooms has a refig, mico, new tv, and bed. The balcony patio was awesome. They have expanded their breakfast to include cereal, hot cocoa, juice, cookies and muffins, tea and coffee. This breakfast is perfect to start your day. The pool was nice and clean and inviting.

Room Tip: Book on Knights Inn website. Much better prices.

There were seven of us and the configuration of the room was great for for it! The staff is very friendly, the pool and grounds were clean, the room and bathroom clean and the location can't be beat! It is close to the Boardwalk and reasonably priced restaurants. We will definitely be back.

This was the first place I stayed at in California. Mostly what I enjoyed about this motel was the proximity to everywhere I wanted to be In Santa Cruz... Within view of the boardwalk and minutes from down town. The rooms are clean and include a fridge and micro, which is awesome in my world cuz I'm a frugal traveler and try not to eat out too much. The cleaning staff was really friendly and asked everyday I stayed if I needed anything extra. Anyone who has read my other posts knows how I feel about CS... So that rocked to me ;) Only one real complaint. The continental breakfast was sad, lol... one sliced poppy seed pound cake and coffee and OJ is not the makings of a cont' bfast as far as I'm concerned. Plus I suspect they serve the same pitcher of OJ over again everyday cuz the third day I was there it tasted sour, yuck!

Room Tip: Book ahead for weekends. In SC it all gets booked!

This place is great all around! You can't get a better price for the location. It's walking distance to the boardwalk and pier. We stayed in December 2010 during a terrible storm and the power went out all over town. The staff made sure we had everything we needed and they even gave us candles for the room. The rooms are very comfortable and have everything we need. An added bonus for us is that they are pet friendly and we travel everywhere with our little dog. I will stay here again and would recomend it to anyone!

This is a motel, and as such it's not luxury. But it was reasonably priced, an excellent location (less than 5 mins walk from the beach and boardwalk), and the room was very large and clean. Dated decor and "breakfast" was a flask of coffee and some slices of muffin, however what do people expect from a motel?? It was prefectly pleasant!
