What an experience!
Shakespeare at Santa Cruz is in a stunning location with equally stunning actors. I have been to a few shows and have never been disappointed.
Make sure you bring your own blankets (although you can buy one there, and money goes back into the arts), food and comfy cushions for the chair. Light refreshments are available throughout the show.
The setting is quite intimate, and the actors are often walking within the audience- which just absorbs you into the show even more!
A true delight.

The new location is great. The seating is very comfortable and it is easy to see and hear. The outdoor venue adds to the experience. Acting is good, lots of humor. We saw the Fringe Show with only intern actors and it was amazing. A definite must see !!

A must see!! Outstanding acting and creative productions. And the new home at the Audrey Stanley Grove in Upper DeLaveage Park is a perfect setting for outdoor theater.

You can't ask for a better setting to watch a play. The acting was also very good. They announced at the beginning of the play that it was the company's last season in this particular venue, but I'd strongly recommend checking them out where ever they end up.

Go to the outdoors performances in The Glen. You will never forget it. The acting, production and direction is fantastic combined with the beauty of the glen...a can't miss experience.

Superb troupe, wonderful presentation. On the brink of bankruptcy Patrick Stewart stepped up and helped ensure its continuation for a bit. Quite the treasure.

This is absolutely world class Shakespearean theater set in the
Redwood Glen with fine actors and great direction. Like the Globe
here in a Santa Cruz

This was our first visit to "the glen" and it was a perfect setting in which to view the Bard's works. Good acoustics, great set that blended perfectly into the natural splendor of the redwoods and fine acting all around. We saw the fringe show and were so impressed with these "interns." They are all wonderful actors and we loved the production. Everyone should experience the joy of Shakespeare in this setting. Just don't forget to rent the seat cushions and bring fleeces and/or blankets so you'll be warm and comfy during the cool evenings. But do go as you won't be disappointed. It was a mid summer treat. We also loved that you could bring in your own food and drink to consume during the performance.

My teenage daughter and I saw (and loved) all the comedies shown this season. The company brought some terrific talent to Santa Cruz this year--great directing, acting, and costumes. Nothing better than to experience the Forest of Arden in the redwood glen at UCSC. Shakespeare play on! Definitely plan to enjoy a couple of afternoons or evenings with the Bard next season, mid-July through mid-August.

It was fun to come back to this great outdoor venue and this production did not disappoint. One of the best Shakespeare plays done just right. Kudos to all who had a hand in the return of this great Santa Cruz tradition.
