We went here for my husbands bday. Be sure to make reservations for the outside patio. Beautiful twinkle lights foliage and white table cloths. The food was amazing. We had naan and babaganoush, hummus and tziki. We have been in Santa Cruz for a few months now looking for a good restaurant. We just found it. My daughter had an heirloom tomatoe salad and I had trout perfectly cooked with jalapeño dip and saffron basmati rice. My husband had the eggplant. They brought my husband an amazing choc mouse brownie with vanilla sauce and raspberries for his birthday. Love Laili. All I can say is yummy, yummy yummy. Service was excellent. No hovering or giving us the bums rush. But there when we needed them for a beautiful relaxing leisurely meal. Highly recommend this place.

The restaurant appears to be pretty popular. It is best to make a reservation although it is possible to wait for a table but that might take some time. The restaurant itself is kind of modern at a simple level. Nothing fancy. High ceilings and echoing sounds. If you like it you like it. We prefer a more cosy setting.

Where it concerns the service we can say that we don't have any complaints. Nice, fast and they did check on us.
Addressing the food we believe we do have to make some statements. Ordering drinks it appears they ran out of a few juices! Sounds weird on a Saturday evening at 07.00 pm. But okay, it can happen. The starters were oaky but coming to the main dishes we have to say that the lamb shank wasn't anything special. Flat flavours, especially compared to the lamb tenderloin my partner had offering the typical lamb taste. Vegetables were pretty raw. We understand certain cooks like to do it this way, modern cooking school, but again we think it is not the way to do it. If it is this raw why not present it cold?

Anyhow the evening was more or less okay but we don't think we will come back here again. There are better restaurants in Santa Cruz.

We had a very delicious dinner at Laili's this past week. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was very good. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor patio dining experience. Since our dinner there, we have spoken about booking a table for every night.

We sat on the patio which has a great atmosphere. The food is authentic, fresh and delicious. My husband enjoyed the lamb and the salmon with sauce was delicious. We had good service and they seemed to also accommodate larger parties. If you want to try something a little different, give Laili a chance.

Had lunch the week of September 9th. It has very nice decor and a very nice patio for outside dining if desired. The food was great! All kinds of strong favors and expertly prepared and presented, all at a reasonable price. The dipping sauces were wonderful. Our waitress (Victoria) was oustanding and quite possibly the best we have ever had. She was professional, friendly, attentive without being over bearing and helpful. The only downside is that this place is in Santa Cruz and not Walnut Creek where we lived. Any time we are in Santa Cruz we will be sure to eat here.
