“Great food and service”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

The food quality at this restaurant was top notch and the atmosphere is outstanding as you get wonderful view of ocean. The service was excellent and wait staff very friendly. For being a hotel restaurant, this is one of the best restaurants that I have been too. Great place to eat on the beach.

“Go For The View, Not The Food”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

This place has an absolutely fantastic view, nearly 180 degrees from the boardwalk to west cliff, it's got to be one of the best views in Santa Cruz. The service was also pretty good. Our server was attentive, seemed to know the menu, even the buss service was good - filling water glasses, quickly clearing plates. The food was another story. We had the ceviche which was okay - well prepared, but not a whole lot of flavor and served with tortilla chips which sat in the liquid from the ceviche and got soggy. The Buratta and kale salad was pretty good - the buratta was fresh and the kale well cooked with onions and olive oil. We also had the soup du jour, a cream of artichoke which had NO artichoke flavor, more like cream of cream. Lastly, we had the 'roasted' spagetti squash which had almost no flavor, even just a little salt would have helped.

So, go for a pricy drink and the great view and head elsewhere for the food.

“Excellent food and a view to die for”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

The excellent, well prepared dishes were second to the fantastic view out of a huge wall of windows. All the tables had a view of the ocean and the wharf. We even saw some dolphin in the distance while having dinner at dusk. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner at the restaurant. All 3 were worth a return visit. Dress is nice/casual and everyone was having a really good time. Great staff, too.

“Service Not Great--”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

This is purely a review of the service because we were unable to wait long enough to actually eat there. Went for happy hour. Had drinks out on the patio. Returned two hours later for dinner, but didn't have reservations. We were told we would have to wait 45 minutes. The dining room was filled with more dirty tables than diners, and our beer bottles were still on the patio table. Another couple was waiting also. We inquired as to how long they had been waiting and they said 30 min. That's unacceptable to me to make people who want to spend their money wait because the tables aren't getting bussed. We walked out.

“Everything was perfect except the calamari”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

Very nice restaurant. Got a chance to have two meals there, a breakfast and a dinner. I enjoyed both meals. The chowder was particularly very good, and the grilled salmon tasted great. Nice view too. Everything was perfect with one exception, the calamari. I don't know whether it is a bad calamari moment or it is the norm, but I will probably shy away from trying it again there. Otherwise highly recommended.
