“Beautiful view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2011

Ate lunch and dinner here the first day we arrived from the East Coast. Lunch was good, but pricey. Dinner was during Restaurant Week, and we had an appetizer, dinner and dessert for $25, so it was a great value. The food was very good, service a little spotty as our server had only been at the restaurant for 2 days and didn't know the dishes very well (she confused the prawns on the regular menu with those on the restaurant week menu in describing how they were prepared). The view is to die for, though.

“Beautiful view - excellent food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2011

We celebrated my sister-in-law's birthday at Aqarius, the new modern restaurant attached to the Dream Inn in Santa Cruz. The restaurant is overlooking Cowells Beach in Santa Cruz next to the Boardwalk. It has a great view of the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf, sailboats and the surfers. We visited on a Sunday and caught the tailend of their Sunday Brunch. The menu has a good variety of options and the view is fantastic. If you are looking for a relaxing enviroment with a good view AND delicious food, this is it. Be prepared to throw down a few bucks, but it is definitely worth it. We had several items from the menu including fish + chips, the farmers market salad, and clam chowder soup. Since it was a birthday we sampled four of the desserts on the menu including the apple tart, chocolate ganache cake, keylime pie and rasberry cheesecake. Everything was delicious. Aquarius is known for using healthy ingredients in the cooking. The food tasted fresh and the service was prompt. I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions.

“Management needs a trip to Watsonville”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2011

While staying at the Dream Inn my dh and I ate twice in the hotel restaurant for breakfast.

Is the manager the owner of a chicken farm?! The menu is eggs, eggs, and eggs! Build your own omelet (with sausage or bacon and potatoes sides), choose one of four kinds of eggs benedict, have scrambled eggs with sausage and potatoes. Have eggs sunny side up- with bacon!! Have pancakes (made with eggs) with one sliced strawberry as a garnish!
Has anyone here read up on what constitutes a healthy breakfast ?!
The "sides", a short list, an afterthought at the bottom of the page, included nondescript "yogurt" and "cereal."
In a city that sits next to Watsonville, the produce capital of the world, I was truly awestruck that the menu didn't have any fresh fruit- not even strawberries, oranges, or grapefruit!
I flew back to the east coast, walked into Whole Foods and was greeted with a bin of-- Watsonville fresh strawberries!
Management, Pl-eaaase! Get out of the building and go to Watsonville. TIme pressured? Go downtown to one of the SC open food markets and buy some fruit! And bring back several types of low fat yogurt. If I can buy two pounds of Watsonville strawberries for $5 in the DC area, surely, you can manage to secure a much better deal in Santa Cruz..
Unbelievable menu!
