“Hidden away from the crowds in a beach town!”
Reviewed January 16, 2012

This property surprised us (my husband and I). It looked like a small apartment or condo unit from the outside, and was not near other hotels. It is a newly remodeled and updated 3-story complex with about 25 rooms. We had a room on the 3rd floor, as I wanted the best view. Here are the essentials:
Location: 3 blocks from the funky downtown Pacific Garden Mall-outdoor shops and restaurants of every kind, and about 6 blocks to the BEACH! Perfect for me, as I don't like hotel crowds along the beach. I went running on West Cliff Drive, from my hotel. Now, there are some seedy-looking places across a busy street, but I felt perfectly safe.
Room: Very modern and comfortable--bamboo natural flooring, white down comforters and a King bed you don't want to get out of! Santa Cruz gets COLD when the fog rolls in so it had a space heater with a "fake fire" screen that looked like flames moving--it heats the room fine. The bathroom was spacious, and disabled-accessible (we did not request this, but it was fine). Only downside was water running under the shower curtain out onto the bathroom floor. Slate-like tiles and new fixtures.
Food: Other guests raved about the made to order breakfast, but we got a low rate without breakfast.
Overall: Great value, great location, walking distance to everything downtown and beach, newly decorated!

Room Tip: Third floor has best views. Rooms nearest the elevator are disabled-accessible.

My wife and I stayed here in early January 2012. Although the staff is only here for a few hours a day (3-5 pm, and in the morning), there was no problem with our early check-in. The room was comfortable and quiet, and the bed was luxurious. We were within walking distance of downtown and some great restaurants. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Small and cozy only nine rooms all with a courtyard views, the rooms are clean and well appointed, the bed and pillows are so soft and comfy that you just melt into them. the entire staff makes you feel really welcome and goes out of their way to help you in any way they can. the Breakfast is great and Chef Darrio is a joy to chat with. the location is great with a short walk to either Downtown for shopping or eating( pleanty of reasturaunts) or to the wharf, and the Boardwalk. I would tell anyone headed to Santa Cruz to look into the Inn, It is worth the time.

My husband and I stumbled across this hotel our first night in Santa Cruz. We needed a place to stay, and decided to give this place a try. Let me tell you, it was very enjoyable! The staff was very accommodating, warm, and welcoming. They genuinely care! The man on duty provided us with great directions to specific surf shops downtown. Downtown is just a 5-minute walk away. The room was very clean and cozy. Quiet too. The bed was sooo comfortable, and the fireplace was a very cozy touch. The breakfast was superb! Top-notch food. Honestly, it was the best breakfast I've had in a long time. Really. Also, Pacific Blue Inn has Wi-Fi, which is very convenient. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone. It was awesome. Great value!

Perfect hidden little gem in a great location. It was evident from the time we arrived how much ownership has put into their inn to give the best experience possible. The facility was clean and well kept with a modern decor. A couple blocks from downtown and a 15 minute walk to the boardwalk. We didn't know what to expect from the included breakfast and were thoroughly impressed-coffee, tea, juice, fresh fruit bowl, freshly baked dessert thing and made to order plates!

This was a very upscale or updated place, great room, super great linens, a fireplace, large flat screen on the wall. Breakfast was awesome! People running the place are very helpful and friendly too. Not your average B&B but worth the stay, convenient short walk to downtown and not far from the wharf.
