Visited the Museum on a Sunday afternoon. Wasn't very crowded, so had free reign over several of the exhibits.

It's actually a pretty small museum, so you can easily see all four of the exhibits in a couple hours. I really liked the one about local Santa Cruz history. It covered events like the 1906 earthquake and how it destroyed several buildings in the current downtown area where the Museum is located. It gave a very good picture of how the town and community evolved and came to be. There was also a nice little sculpture garden on the roof and a couple rotating exhibits which were ok.

Thank Arkajit

A Santa Cruz must visit/see is the Museum of Art and History. The new director is committed to hands-on people involvement to raise interest in both aspects.

Being centrally located in the downtown area, you can take a tour and have lunch afterward.
The museum has something for everyone. Climb-able art on the third floor with a beautiful sun-lit patio where you can view the art and eat a snack there as well. (Eating is not allowed in the Museum).
The younger children can visit 'Grandmother's Closet' where they can try on old clothes in a nook outfitted with decorations from an older time. Photographic exhibits are a staple with random pictures of community members hanging in the stairwell.
The history exhibits , including one about logging, detail local history very well.

In downtown Santa Cruz, this is a nice respite from some of the action. It's not overly large, but the exhibits are first-rate. Santa Cruz is fortunate to have it!!
