Owner description: The Mystery Spot is a gravitational anomaly located in the redwood forests just outside of Santa Cruz, California. It is a circular area of effect around 150 feet or 46 meters in diameter. Within the Mystery Spot you will be stunned as your perceptions of the laws of physics and gravity are questioned. But don't take our word for it, come and decide for yourself! The Mystery Spot was discovered in 1939 by a group of surveyors and opened to the public in 1940. The Mystery Spot has amazed and perplexed hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world, and many return time and time again to experience these puzzling variations of gravity, perspective, and height. Some speculate that cones of metal were secretly brought here and buried in our earth as guidance systems for their spacecraft. Some think that it is in fact the spacecraft itself buried deep within the ground. Other theories include carbon dioxide permeating from the earth, a hole in the ozone layer, a magma vortex, the highest dielectric biocosmic radiation known anywhere in the world, and radiesthesia. Whatever the cause is, it remains a mystery.

Mystery Spot is a fun place to see optical illusions. Walking through the area and buildings in particular are a lot of fun. The information provided by the tour guide is good.

They also hand out their bumper sticker of which once one has gone to see the Mystery Spot, one will start seeing it on people's car bumpers here and there in the local area, It seems to be one of those bumper stickers that do show up,

Note: The tour is on a hill so wear walking shoes to visit.

There is Mystery Spot store there to buy other tourist related items as well.

Well organised, excellent tour guides and very good value for money. It's bizarre but lots of fun for all.

The guide we had was superb. Although very young, he was very outgoing and funny. He put everyone at ease, and we enjoyed the tour through the 'mysteries' despite our skepticism as to what was really going on.

It was a 1 hour tour, that we wished lasted longer! Our tour guide was hilarious, but for some reason I have forgotten his name! Must be the mystery spot! It was close to Santa Cruz and Los Gatos, beautiful historic and fun for all but not for those unable to walk or wheel up a hill.

I had been meaning to come here for years. I started to think about putting it on my bucket list. I had heard it needed to be experienced to be believed. It is very inexpensive ($6) but I'd recommend going online and reserving a tour as they fill up quick since tours are limited to 16 people, and you might have to wait a long time if you just show up. The spot itself is a ... I can't say that, you'll have to see for yourself. The forces on your body are hard to explain. Nothing dangerous, just odd. I'd not recommend the tour part for those with mobility problems. There are also free things like a hiking trail and gift shop, etc. The tour though is where it is at.
