Owner description: The Mystery Spot is a gravitational anomaly located in the redwood forests just outside of Santa Cruz, California. It is a circular area of effect around 150 feet or 46 meters in diameter. Within the Mystery Spot you will be stunned as your perceptions of the laws of physics and gravity are questioned. But don't take our word for it, come and decide for yourself! The Mystery Spot was discovered in 1939 by a group of surveyors and opened to the public in 1940. The Mystery Spot has amazed and perplexed hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world, and many return time and time again to experience these puzzling variations of gravity, perspective, and height. Some speculate that cones of metal were secretly brought here and buried in our earth as guidance systems for their spacecraft. Some think that it is in fact the spacecraft itself buried deep within the ground. Other theories include carbon dioxide permeating from the earth, a hole in the ozone layer, a magma vortex, the highest dielectric biocosmic radiation known anywhere in the world, and radiesthesia. Whatever the cause is, it remains a mystery.

I went there with my friends and I would say it was a great experience. the time that we got there it wasn't crowded so we've got to try different tricks and kinda walk around the house. It totally worth seeing it at least once.

“Mysterious yet not so absorbing!!”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

We were so excited on hearing about this spot. It was a good drive from sunny vale to santa cruz. A good half day was spent. There were groups and a guide to take us to the spot. The concept was well understood, but the fun or thrill was so very limited. We tried all tricks but something was missing - either the place was designed like that or we couldn't completely feel it.
Anyways, it is worth a half day outing.
Clubbed with the beach, it would make a day out.

“Interesting but a bit amature”
Reviewed October 22, 2013

We went to see the great 'mystery spot' and found it to be entertaining, but a bit laughable at time. Some of the mysteries are obvious, but some others are a bit more intriguing. A great place to visit at least once if you've not seen anything like it before.

Enjoyable amusing gimmic. Wellperformed and a visit, but not a detour, worth. Good parking facilities

“Fun Stop”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

This was a fun stop on the trip, even though my skeptical husband was not a believer. We still enjoyed it. It was in the middle of some beautiful redwoods. Note that the tour takes 45 minutes, so plan on this being at least an hour stop.
