It is 2 located 2 short blocks from the Pier and close to the Boardwalk. Plenty of parking, although if they shuffled the parking a bit each room can have parking lot right by their room. Some smoking room available. There was a small pool that looked toward the pier. 2nd floor rooms were partially oceanview with balcony with couple plastic chairs. There was microwave, mini fridge, cable, wifi, and a tub. It's not sparkling new, but it didn't feel run down. There was no signs of bugs, mold, chipped walls, the usual sign of run down motel. Mattress felt bit too soft. (I like super firm mattress for point of reference) I would imagine this with 100s of mother motel in the area gets booked during summer months. Rides were closed on late October friday and board walk was deserted. For breakfast there were some wrapped pastry, coffee, OJ, and hot water for tea and cocoa located right by the office. Owners were nice and friendly.

Room Tip: For ocean view, get 2nd floor.

not sure why a lot of people rated it so low. The accommodation is located very conveniently a few mins walk away from the beach and pier. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Toiletries provided and a pool (which was surprisingly empty during our stay) we were a bit disappointed with santa cruz beach and pier (very busy and dirty)
for smokers - the room comes with a balcony where you can smoke. The wifi is not very strong in the room. the pool was clean but the people walking out or in buses can see you as its just right by the streets.

The place is old and dirty. The fake grass outside of the rooms was filthy. Our room had wire running over the door way. Wifi was terrible. We actually shut the wifi option off on our phones and tablets to get faster service. Would not stay here again!

Room Tip: Free wifi but it didn't work.

Truly a weird place to stay. When we arrived we noticed that all the room doors were wide open the whole way along the corridor. Upon entering the room we discovered why: the air conditioning had been disabled. In California. In Summer. Temperature 88F (31C). No way to get it working.

Tried to watch TV but the TV and the cable box were both unplugged. Plugged them in and finally got the TV going after much rooting around behind the TV cabinet.

Decided to put my beers into the fridge to keep cool. Electrical outlet near the fridge has had the grounding pin plugged up so fridge can no longer be plugged in. Managed to bodge that one and got the fridge working (don't ask!)

Starting to get dark, maybe we should turn on a light. Seriously ONE LIGHT. The only one that we can make work.

I understand that they might be trying to save money as this is a budget hotel but, seriously?

Cannot recommend this hotel unless you get a REALLY good deal on the room rate. Just don't expect working fridge, TV or lights for your money. Also don't expect the place to be clean or well-maintained.

The Lanai Lodge looks ok from the outside but is pretty ran down. The 2 rooms to our right...from our balcony to theirs: looks like pack rats live there. Not sure if this hotel rents weekly/monthly rooms but it is just not nice to look at. The manager/owner is rude and they barely clean daily or replace towels/linens. You do not want to walk barefoot on the carpet and the beds are lumpy and blankets worn/torn.
