I recently attended a 4 day seminar at this Marriott and I am delighted to report that they have mastered the fine art of service and planning. As gold members of Marriott, I have routine requests, which were fulfilled upon arrival without my having to ask – unfortunately not every Marriott does this. Upon check in there was a request card soliciting further requests, including what time of the day I preferred housekeeping services – all requests were fulfilled to the letter. I also had daily room service for breakfast which arrived on the dot, and hot.

The conference was for five hundred people and the hotel handled them flawlessly:

To feed the group, the hotel set up buffets in their restaurants with food to reflect that restaurant style. The food was very good and the price point was excellent ($15). However, for the budget minded, or for a quick meal the hotel set up tables in the expansive lobby stocked with sandwiches soups and salads (price point $5-10).

The bathrooms near the conference room were large so that “getting in-and-out” was easy. Better still, the bathroom had a spa atmosphere - a lady held the door for guests, scented candles were lit, real flower arrangements were present and mints and chocolate were available. In between the breaks, the bathrooms were cleaned completely of all used towels, sinks cleaned etc. – truly top notch. NOW GET THIS – The hotel converted an employee bathroom to the same standard I described for the speaker, who being rather famous, needed a bit of privacy from the crowd. WOW.

I could go on, but I will only add that EVERY EMPLOYEE acknowledged me with eye contact and a smile. Free WIFI was fast and everywhere. The Restaurant Parcel 104 cooks up outstanding meals every bit as good (or better) that Cin Cin in Los Gatos, or Il Bellagio in Campbell (and they are hot).

I attend many seminars around the country and the only chain to match this level of service is the Ritz Carlton (also a Marriot brand) – except one is saved the pretentiousness from those type of guests.

Go and enjoy experiencing excellence at work.

This hotel is right off the 101. Its a great location. Nice pool and if you like to work out, its one of the best i have seen in a hotel. They also have a Sauna. They have a sports bar and a nice place to grab some food. This is my 6th or 7th time here. I will be back. Its close to my corp office and it a fun place to stay. If you have kids, its accross the street from a big amusment park.

Room Tip: get a room facing the pool. They light it up at night and its a nice view.

I stayed here several years ago in the towers and I recall the room was much better then. This time I was in the older single story wing and was just an average room and definetely smaller. Overall, this felt more like a Courtyard but with the higher price tag. Internet was fine and the food was average at best. My biggest hangup was the fee for parking at $9 day (not even free for hotel guests). Since I know of better accommodations in the area at better prices, I likely wouldn't stay here again as a result.

Overall very happy. But one big draw back - the music playing for the rides at Great America is rather loud. The bass still thumps into your room with the windows shut. And they are open till midnight.

Check Great Americas hours / season before you book here, if they're open, ask for any room not facing GA. Your welcome.

Nice resort hotel.

Pros:
Nice comfy beds and linens
Nice pool area and hot tub with lots of towels and cold water.
Close by to McDonalds, El Torito and IHOP.
Lobby very nice and staff most welcoming and nice
Fast elevators.
Reasonable room rates if you get the free parking.
Nice TV's
Quiet A/C's
Nice showerheads
Close to Great America.

Cons:
No shuttle to Great America
Have to pay for inroom internet, come on, this is 2011!
Food prices at the two restaurants way out of sight, especially when you are there for a conference.
Bathrooms very small and tight, kinda old style small.
Rooms not huge, but adequate.

Would definitely stay here again and enjoy this hotel.

This hotel provided good value for a recent weekend stay. The rooms were nothing spectacular, but above average. Easy access to the 101, but not so close that the noise was bothersome. There are several very good food options within a mile or so (Pedro's Mexican Restaurant was excellent).

I may give the hotel 4 stars if it weren't for the fact that they charge a fee of $9/night to self park. This is Santa Clara, not the city. Ridiculous that they charge anything to park at this hotel. It's :only" $9, but you're in the 'burbs and there's no reason for it.
