Went there when we were younger, thought We'd take the kids. Park added a water park since we'd been there, thought it would be fun. Not the same as when we went. It was okay. No real shows, nothing showing in the IMAX, water park was small compared to some we've visted in the northwest. Did have Nickelodeon live-but not on Tues or Wed. Best part-Kidzville had lots of rides for younger children.

Tips-
1) if you plan to go more than 1 day, buy season pass-it's cheaper and you get a 20% discount at several park restaurants and stores, free parking and also gets you into Bonfante Gardens in Gilroy (30 miles south, geared towards kids 10 and younger) for free.
2) If you buy food for your family at park restaurants-check menus for family meal package- a lot cheaper than individual meals.
3) Weekdays are less crowded

The Park is larger than I remembered. It was great. We went on a weekday in August when it was not crowded. Had everything you would have wanted in an amusement park. Had a two year old and even he could ride something. One suggestion would be to direct people with little kids to go to the left of the park first to the little peoples rides and at the same time the big people could get a couple of rides in on your jumbo rides. Perhaps something like a crossroads sign with what things you can see in what direction. I know you have the map, but sometime it is easier to get started with something you can look up at and get your barings. The park closes to early. Didn't get to ride some of the bigger rides that might have if had more time, because wanted to make sure that little kids had fun also. Need more vendors throughout the park that sell sodas and the like. Do need more benches for people to sit while waiting for riders. Not all of us ride rides even though we pay the same price as those that do. Overall enjoyed the day.

Great America is a nice family outing. But, it will run you about $165.00 for a family of four, plus lunch. Most things are included in admission price, except Lazer Tag and a few other things. Great place if you like to ride roller coasters (or not). Variety of rides for all ages and temperaments. Some good shows for the young ones too. I did Kareoke myself and loved it. Californians and nearby residents get best deal, as you can get a annual pass for just a little more than the one day price. Us foreignors and Floridiots really have no choice but to find a coupon or plan on coming back if you want a really good deal. On a hot day, bing the little ones bathing suits. They have a wonderful water park for the kids. Bring a towel and change of clothes also or it will cost you a bundle to buy the towel and the clothes (if they are cold). It is closed during Winter months and has a limited schedule during March, April. So, check the websites for times and dates. We went on the 2nd day it was open for the season and it was no lines, no waiting. The roller coasters were a little backed up because only one side would be open or they would break down alot. Not all rides were working. Also, they seem to have just a bunch of kids working there- not professionals. There isn't much shade, so bring a hat and sunscreen. Plenty of benches for parents to sit down while waiting for kids and teens, though. A few other parents and I were talking and it would be nice if they would have a non-rider's entrance fee, since alot of parents don't ride the rides. Overall a wonderful experience. OUr kids have been to Disney lots of times, but still enjoyed the park. Especially our teenage roller coaster fanatic - he loved it. Located very close to the 101 between San Jose and San Mateo. Plenty of parking, but suggest getting there when gates open forleast lines. Park food is subsistance food at best and costs just a much as some sit down restaurants. If the management was smart, they would openr those families who are willing to pay a little more for a nice, leisurely lunch. Otherwise, it is hamburgers, chicken tenders, pizza and maybe a salad in a cafeteria style setting or outdoors. Have fun!
