The fish and chips for $14.95 wasn't bad for the amount of fish and chips (fries) they give you. The fish was great. Loved the fries. Happy there was a large eating area to eat as we were with our dog!!

A cup of clam chowder at $6.95 for 8oz was a bit steep but the fish tacos at $10.95 were much better value and delicious with a really piquant salsa.

It was a mistake really - an ill-formed dream of fish and chips by the ocean. Arriving in Santa Barbara for a few days whilst visiting family in Los Angeles we had this romantic notion to eat fish and chips on the pier. We weren't in Brighton or Newlyn for goodness sake, we were in the USA...of course the fish and chips weren't going to be the same! The chips would be fries...spindly white fingers of potato mulch and of course the fish wouldn't be cod - or was it? I couldn't tell. It was grey for a start and the batter, thin and chocolate brown like the type you get on the pork balls in our local Chinese restaurant at home. The oil from the frier permeated everything and added a flavour hitherto unknown to me in all my years of fish and chip munching. It was not nice. We ate the fries and after a few bites we left the fish to the extremely large black backed gull who watched solemnly from the rail.
Sorry Char West Fish and Chips - great location but lousy fish and chips - despite the 'You must try this signage'.
3 x fish & chips, 1 tea and 2 cokes came to $57.19

We took a couple bites of fish and chips and threw it in the garbage. Totally wasted our money. Really think and gross batter on the fish with really cheap frozen french fries that were barely cooked. We were really sorry we gave them our money.

Located right on the pier, with outside picnic tables and cool breezes from the spectacular harbor view, this is a simple little quick-serve joint amid tourist-trappish overpriced, poor quality restaurants. For a quick, simple lunch midweek on a hot day, it was just right.

Best dishes were fish tacos and fish and chips. Looming for lighter fare, we subbed a salad for the fries, which was fresh, tasty and refreshing. Old school nice, with super friendly service.
