“Sleepless in Santa Barbara”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

This cute little motor inn just 2 blocks from the beach has so many lovely amenities that we were sorry to have to leave after just one night! But the bed was so uncomfortable that we just couldn't take another night! I do want to say that, although we had booked 2 nights, the hotel was extremely accommodating about letting us out of the second night. So... if you don't mind a very soft bed (no support), then stay here because you'll enjoy the free bicycles, simple but adequate wine reception, the nice continental breakfast, the extensive DVD collection, intimate Jacuzzi and the close proximity to beachfront restaurants. If this property would only update their beds, we would return in a minute.

Greetings scvtravelers4779, I am delighted to hear you enjoyed our complimentary amenities, however, I am terribly sorry to hear you found our beds uncomfortable. We have received many wonderful compliments about our Simmons World Class Beauty Rest beds so we are surprised by your comments. Please accept our sincerest apologies and know that our hotel team will diligently inspect each mattress to ensure our guests receive a most comfortable and relaxing night’s sleep. Thank you kindly for bringing this matter to our attention. Warmly, Greg Broussard – General Manager.

This B&B is so charming, It's spotlessly clean, cozy, quiet and comfortable. I was looking for somewhere affordable for my mother and I, and it was perfect. They also offer a really great continental breakfast. The location couldn't be better.

Room Tip: They are all good

Stayed here on our last night of a road trip and enjoyed it immensely. The reception was great, the rooms lovely and comfortable with fridge and complimentary champagne. The lavender pouches on the beds were also a nice touch..until my son thought it was a bag of chocolates and almost ate it, much to our amusement!! We enjoyed the cheese and wine which was very sociable and again a nice touch..we went out at 5, so didn't get chance to sample the cookies. Breakfast was very adequate. One mention should be to the staff who were very friendly and helpful, particularly Lilly, who went out of her way to offer restaurant advice. I would definitely recommend this hotel and when we visit again from the UK we will be sure to stay here again.

The Lavender Inn on Castillo St. is our first choice for a weekend stay in Santa Barbara. It is comfortable, immaculately clean, staffed by a helpful crew, located conveniently near the beach and the 101 freeway, and it is one of the best values in town. I believe we have stayed at this hotel/motel five or six times over the last two years and never had a negative experience.

The breakfast is always generous with a good selection of pastries, cereals, fruit, juices and breads. In the afternoon one can select from a variety of cheeses and wines....and the chocolate chip cookies are a treat.

This is a comfortable Inn...try it.

The Inn is sasy to find and the people are very friendly. The rooms are fine and clean. There was a problem with the hot water and it never did get really hot. The breakfast area is very congested so it is best to take the food to your room to eat.

What a great little inn. It's close to the beach and downtown. Breakfast is included, which has plenty of food, wine and cheese and milk & cookies! It's older but very nicely kept up and remodeled. The value is great with all the little extras. Now the staff is what really make this place awesome. Danny is a rockstar. I'm demanding I admit it, and I had a bunch of little requests. All perfectly handled and more.

Our son and his wife spent some of their honeymoon last June at this Inn which I had found for them through Trip Advisor. When we made a road trip to California in March, we ended up spending two nights. The bathrobes, complimentary champagne, wine and cheese every afternoon, milk and cookies every night are some of the extra little touches that make the Inn a standout. The up-dated bathrooms were excellent and the bed quite comfortable. The rooms themselves are in need of a bit of an up-date but they are spotlessly clean and well-maintained. The continental breakfast was excellent with lots of fruit, boiled eggs, & plenty of pastries to choose from. While the Inn is not 'by the Sea' exactly, it is only a few blocks from the ocean and Stern's Wharf. The Inn has very friendly staff who advised us on good places to eat and supplied some coupons for free appetizers.
I found Club Santa Barbara on the Inn website and booking through them saved us some money.
