Had to make a swift choice for a last minute business trip and looked briefly at reviews on TA which were almost universally positive. We weren't disappointed. GM Frank has a sly wit and great charm which makes you feel totally at home. The rooms have been tastefully updated with v comfortable beds, a cute faux log gas fire to keep you warm in the chilly winter nights and vaulted ceilings which make you feel you're in a fancier place than you are. apart from intermittent wifi (which we found in so many places on this trip) its a terrific place to stay and such incredible value, a hop skip and jump from the beach and 15-20 mins walk into town or a gentle bike ride. Self-serve buffet breakfast is a cut above the rest, but just make sure you use the serving tongs or Frank will tell you off, gently. Really pleased we found this gem, thank you fellow reviewers!

I stayed for one night with my boyfriend on V-day. When we arrived to the hotel we were a little unsure if we were at the right place because we came from the back of the building and couldn't find the entrance. Once we found the front door, we were pleasantly greeted by Frank. He was friendly and very warm. He showed us a map of the area and gave us some tourist literature. The breakfast was filling with fresh bagels and pastries, oatmeal, fruit, and coffee. The entire experience in Santa Barbara was memorable and I would stay here again if I was ever in the area.

We were pleasantly happy with our stay at the Inn at East Beach on MLK weekend. We were in town one night. Parked in a nice, spacious and free parking lot, and walked 5 minutes over to the Santa Barbara Zoo, had dinner at the Harbor, went to the Sea Center/Aquarium at the end of the wharf, and even joined the MLK march up State Street. The room was nicely renovated decor, nice artwork, modern fixtures. A nice little continental breakfast in the morning was included. Wifi worked, which was nice. Even though it was 57 degrees our kid jumped in the pool. Next time we'll go back in the summer and take advantage of the sand toys and the beach, which is just a block away.

This property is the best it possibly can be.
They took an older motel and turned it into a first-rate boutique hotel property. The rooms are appointed beautifully, furnished perfectly to make a comfortable environment.
The location is close to perfect, one short block from the beach.
But the service from Frank sets this place apart. Clearly, operating this property is a labor of love for him. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels, and NEVER met anyone who cares as much, and works as hard to keep his guests happy.
And the daily breakfast spread is simply the best I have ever seen.
You can't go wrong here!

My husband & I stayed here the weekend before Halloween for three nights. After debating between here & the Hyatt (across the street), we choose The Inn at East Beach because I got the junior suite with the kitchen for the same price as a standard room at the Hyatt. Frank was very very welcoming. They also provide a continental breakfast. If you'd like to order room service you can do so through the Hyatt. The two cons I have are for parking & the noise. We came in late one night after hanging out on State St. & there was no parking left in the lot (there is enough for one space per room) or on the street. Also there is a park behind the hotel so the loud crowd playing soccer woke us up on Sunday morning. Overall I would stay here again. I loved the amenities in our room including the fireplace, the kitchen, & the bathroom with a separate sink.

We showed up early in the afternoon and the staff had no problem letting us check in early and get to our room. We had room 132, and it was great. Right above the pool, I was tempted to flash back to my teenage years and jump from the balcony into the deep end. The set up of the place reminded me of the architecture of the Brady Bunch House, or a 1960's apartment complex, Art Deco, kind of. The room was roomy, nice TV, cool that the fireplace doubles as the heater. Free parking was great, the place felt very secure, staff was great, thanks for the wine opener! Short walk to the beach, great walk to State Street for dinner. Bedding was good and comfy, double sinks and mini fridge great touches.

Free breakfast was well thought out and way above average. Coffee was solid in flavor, had boiled eggs, bagels, juices, tea, breads, muffins, etc. You will not leave hungry or feeling cheated. The money saved on breakfast will make you feel like a champ. The personality of the place out-charmed other competitors. Well done Inn at East Bay...

Room Tip: go for a room overlooking pool to have a cup of coffee or beer.

My partner and I stayed here on our stopover from San Fran to LA. We initially intended on only staying one night but were won over by the fantastic beach location and amazingly friendly staff so booked for another night.

Great breakfast - 'grab a tray and fill it up and then come on back for more' was my introduction!

Would recommend.
