The Inn rated highly in a tour that had covered Chicago, SF, LA, San Diego and Palm Springs. A good location within easy reach of the sea, a 10 minute pleasant walk to the town centre and with the very hospitable Frank at the front desk. His recommendations for dining locally were accurate and helpful, while breakfast at the Inn was good.

The two days days we stayed at The Inn at East Beach were outstanding from check-in to check-out!
The manager could not have been more helpful and friendly from the beginning, the location was perfect and the room was great... fridge and microwave... so handy when traveling with kids! Great continental breakfast too!
The grounds are safe, clean, quiet and ideally located between the SB Zoo and East Beach (playground at beach is nice too!) and a nice walking distance (probably better to drive) to State Street shopping and restaurants, as well as Stearns Wharf where there is a great ocean center/aquarium that is very reasonably priced!
For kid-friendly restaurants nearby, there is an El Torito's and IHOP but the hotel across the street has reasonable room service from "Bistro 1111" and a good kids menu.
What a great find! A really nice, family friendly hotel at such a reasonable price... Spend your $$ on fun things! If weather permits, check out the Surrey rental place down the street...and the beautiful carousel...really fun for the kids!

Everything about this small inn was great. The gentleman at the front desk, Frank was very helpful. We were directed to good cafe, coffee shop & grocery store. The continental breakfast was too good to be called a continental breakfast. The room with a fire place was clean & perfect. We have never been at any hotel where the service was so friendly. We will be back. We came from Tucson AZ and loved Santa Barbara.

we just returned from a week at the Inn at East Beach. What a cute motel, old fashioned in a nice way. Frank, the resident manager, is incredibly freindly, and very helpful, with suggestions for meals and entertainment. The "continental' breakfasts was wonderful, much more than donuts! Quiche, bagels, oatmeal, croissants, brownies, muffins, biscotti, delicous coffee, and fresh juice! Plenty of food to tuck away in your jacket hood for a midnight treat! It was such a pleasure to stay in a quiet, clean place, with the friendliest staff around. The location is excellent, within walking distance to many places and a short drive to all others! We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for quality at an affordable price in a beautiful city!

The Inn is in an ideal location if you are looking for a relaxing time, right beside the beach (it's a block but there's a shortcut that Frank will tell you about) and a short cab ride from state street were there are lots of bars and restaurants.
Frank will certainly do all he can to help you out in any way he can. The accomodation itself is clean and spacious with a very large bed. There's no AC but there was a big fan over the bed which done the trick and remained silent during operation.
Pool is also nice.
Would certainly recommend.
