We arrived in Santa Barbara in the dark on a Friday night , it was getting late and we had travelled miles .Driving in the dark was scary as we were from Australia and driving on the opposite side of the road in the dark can be quite frightening .We arrived at the orange tree without a booking (Silly us ) I was travelling with my 70 year old father who was very tired .
The lady at the Orange Tree in was so kind and picked up straight away that we were both stressed and worn out .
Booked us into a room straight away , big room , very comfortable beds and a hot shower .Feeling blessed and very grateful to the staff member who was so kind to us .Loved Santa Barbara and the vibe around state street .Beautiful breakfast on the beach with the warm sand between our toes ..
Thank you Orange tree Inn I never forget your kindness ......

Positive:
Big room with plenty of space.
Balcony with nice view of the mountains.
Free parking.

Negative:
Website promised a safe but this room didn't have one.
Thin walls. You can hear everything going on in the room next to you.
Flimsy door lock. Didn't feel very safe.

Location is OK. 10-15 minutes walk to State Street shopping and restaurants.
IHOP a short walk down the street. No breakfast at the motel so this was very convenient.

You get a clean room, great location for about $100 a night. I couldn't find lower in Santa Barbara as it's an expensive town to stay in. But, it was clean, great location and has a pool. It does not have a continental breakfast in the morning though and that was a disappointment.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the main floor on the side of the pool as you have a patio area available to you.

I have stayed here several times because it's a nice walk down to State Street and a short cab ride home after going out and enjoying Santa Barbara.

The rooms are functionally clean, the king sized bed very comfortable. In most places you would expect a little more for the price.

Service last time was a little disappointing. I requested a bottle opener and they couldn't even accommodate such a small request.

Really plesent greeting after a long drive, given a complimentary upgrade and allowed to check on early as our room was ready.
Room was spacious, with a courtyard garden and had been recently decorated, so felt more modern than your traditional motel.
The room was clean, with plenty of lighting (makes a nice change) and had coffee making facilities. However, a fridge would have been nice and it's a shame the bathrooms hadn't been updated in the refurb. Also no complimentary breakfast is provided, like many other motels.
The location is good, you could walk into the main shopping area but would suggest you drive / cycle.
I would definitely stay again and recommend this place to friends and family. Good value for money.
Santa Barbara is the most beautiful place, can't wait to go back.
