“Not as good as expected”
Reviewed June 3, 2014

We book a king bedroom for the weekend to celebrate my boyfriend birthday. We were looking for a quiet and relaxing place. The location is very nice, even if located on the main street we couldn’t hear the traffic, but the people next door were very loud. It was hard sleeping at night. The management took care of them but it took a while. They offered us an extended night for half of the price. We accepted it.
The pool and the hot spot was nice and comfortable, same with the room.
The clean service not at its best - with the cleaning lady forgetting dirty towels in the bedroom.
Oddly the hotel bar closed at 9.45pm on a Saturday night and that’s was weird.
Overall wasn’t a bed experience but we were expecting more from this place according with the review we read.

I was very happy with the Lemon Tree Inn. The room is big, comfortable, nicely decorated, modern and well equipped.

Although i did not used the pool or other faclities (only spent 1 night at the hotel), they looked very nice. Staff was attentive and helpful.

This hotel is a short drive (5-10 min) from downtown Santa Barbara, but it is definetely not walking distance.

It is also fair to say, I did get a very good rate for the hotel (around $100), and that is also why i am so pleased with the value i got in return.

Our stay at the Lemon Tree Inn in Santa Barbara was okay - here to pros & cons:

good:
nice, spacious room with comfy bed, good price (at least we had a good deal via booking.com) and friendly staff at the front desk, clean, tea- & coffee making facilities in the room, good (& free) parking space, heated pool and whirlpool

not so good (but still ok for the price):
it can be loud - our room entrance faced state street which is a busy street - if you stay there, ask for a room facing the smaller streets. also ask for a room on the top floor, as you can hear noise through the ceilings when staying on the ground floor. (We were lucky!)
the motel is quite far away from downtown SB - first day we walked downtown to the beach, it was okay for once, but it was a 90 minutes walk. however, there's a bus from downtown straight to the motel and free parking can be found in the small streets of downtown SB.
the shower has seen better days, but it was clean and worked.

really not so good:
no fridge in the room, which is indeed annoying if you stay for a couple of nights and there comes no breakfast with the room and, as said above, the motel is a bit off - no cafés or so nearby. there is a restaurant at the motel, but we never went there because it was pricy and its ratings were bad.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with its entrance facing the smaller streets (not state street) and ask for a room on...

Friendly staff welcomed us on arrival. The rooms were spotless and the beds were soooo comfortable. We stayed with our three children and the interconnecting rooms were great. Too cold for swimming but the pool looked nice and well-maintained. The restaurant was great and friendly service. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Inn. very clean rooms, great pool and hot tub. Friendly staff. East to get to from airport
on state street. Have been here several time and never disappointed with the room or service.
Love the real lemon trees in the garden.

I've stayed at this hotel multiple times in the past few years. I love it. The beds are SUPER comfortable. The hotel has been renovated in the past, so it looks like it was built in the 80's but it has modern conveniences. I love the location, but it is near a major road. The benefit of that is you are close to many things. The down side is the noise. If you are really concerned about that sort if thing, which I am not. I've never had any problems with the staff and the hotel is clean. Maybe I'm just overly attached, but I love this place. Wish it was a little cheaper tho. Right now I'm staying for $136/ night. But I've found things in this area are always a little more expensive. Especially if you plan on a weekend or any peak time. So be prepared to pay.

Stayed one night though wish it could have been longer. Rooms are very nicely updated with a modern-retro feel. First floor rooms have good sized patios facing the pool.

Lovely and safe neighbourhood, which was great for a morning jog. Also easy walking distance to Old Mission (worth a visit).

Adjoining room doors are noisy -- could hear the neighbours easily.

Restaurant looked good but didn't have time to try it. Next time!

Excellent value.
