This is a classy and beautifuly landscaped getaway. Our room had a huge sliding
door looking out on a courtyard where people were enjoying the gardens and walking
their dogs. This is a dog friendly Hotel. We left ours at home not realizing they could come. We ate breakfast in the coffee shop and it was delicious and very attractively presented. It was a pleasure just walking the grounds and seeing the ocean right
accross the street. But, the best part of the whole stay was the bed. Believe it or not
we both slept like babies, my mattress at home isn't that comfortable. Everything
seemed to be at our fingertips. Can't wait to come back

We stayed at this DoubleTree on a weekend before a business trip when we both had to be in LA. We booked it using Hilton points, and we were extremely pleased with what we got for the points. We got in late and got a ground-floor ocean view even though we had only booked a "mountain" view. (When you check in late at places, you either get the worst room or a really nice one. We lucked out.) Our room was extremely spacious, clean, and didn't feel out of date in the decor. The breakfasts that we got with my husband's Hilton status were nice as well. We got cups of coffee to go from the buffet and enjoyed reading the paper on our balcony in the morning.

We had a problem where my husband had requested truffles and champagne to be in the room after we returned from dinner; he had spoken multiple times with the concierge about it. There ended up being a mix up and they weren't there (so much for a surprise) when we got back, so he called and they said the would send them up... an hour later and they still hadn't arrived, so he called to cancel them. 2 minutes after that we had a knock on the door and they were delivered. My husband talked to the concierge the next day and they had comped the entire delivery before he even talked to them.

The resort is pet-friendly, but we're dog owners, so it was fun to see all of the animals around. The grounds were in beautiful condition, with no sign of canine visitors, and I thought the buildings were clean and smelled fine from what we experienced (which, granted, was limited). We never heard dogs barking at night either.

We aren't pool people, although the pool is beautiful; however, whenever we went past it was filled with kids, so definitely good for a quiet soak.

The resort is about a 10-15 minute walk from the start of the main drag, but we like to walk so it was a great way to start and end the day, walking along the beach to and from the hotel.

Overall we'd stay here again, at least on points.

We paid for the upgraded ocean view room. At 11:30, just as we were slipping into bed, the Beatles started blaring, so loud and so seemingly close that we believed the noise was coming from our alarm clock. We called a manager to complain about the noise.
When she came to our room she informed us that the noise was coming from the wedding in the ballroom downstairs and that she couldn't do anything about it because the wedding was paying more than us!
The music eventually ended at 12:30. We didn't have a problem with the noise until then so we thought maybe an outside door or window had been opened at that time.
In the morning, a new manager offered to pay for our meals and souvenirs at the hotel. But we were especially upset that we paid for the ocean view room. Apparently the ballroom faces the ocean too!

I liked the location of the hotel and its layout, but the room was very very dark...very cave like. It's too bad because we went to SB to take advantage of the sun. Also, our room had awful outdoor space -- it was surrounded by trees and shrubs and received almost no light.

My first time staying in this hotel. Already disappointed SPG didn't have any properties in the immediate vicinity...but this was a poor substitute. Beautiful property, but rooms were average at best. Sure, they are large, but average. Not really updated either. There was construction by two buildings, lighting was VERY poor in the parking lot so I found myself making a mad dash to the building each and every night. The door to my room did not lock properly nor seal. When the door was shut, you could see through a slight crack to the hallway. BOTTOM LINE: I'M NOT IMPRESSED. Oh, and my balcony view was one of the ocean, but everything else trumped it.

We have stayed at this resort several times. This trip was a Destination Thanksgiving Trip for several generations in our family. What a great time!! The location is wonderful. We had a beautiful ocean view for our Thanksgiving Dinner. The buffet was OUT OF THIS WORLD! The variety of appetizers, salads, cheeses, main dishes, desserts was great!! The quality was outstanding, also. (I would love that stuffing recipe!)

Our family plans to make this a yearly event and to expand to include more family member and friends. All generations enjoyed the resort. The staff is GREAT! The food is wonderful, our rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet with excellent bedding. We were lucky and had perfect weather the entire trip.

The grounds of this resort are among the best I have ever seen. It is fun to see all the beautiful tropical plantings in November! I would love to go there for another holiday sometime soon.
