We stayed at Days Inn in SB mainly because it was the cheapest motel nearby to State Street. I use cheap loosely though because it was still $150 for 1 night in a small motel room. The room was fine, definitely could use some upgrading. The "free breakfast" consisted of juiceboxes and muffins. Free internet which was useful. The bed was big and we slept okay. Mainly the place just needs to be upgraded. But overall for 1 night it was a fine place with a good location close to all the nightlife.

Also, the lady at the front desk was very friendly. But 11am checkout time means 11am. There was a guy at our door at 11am on the dot. Kind of annoying....

Room Tip: Don't expect more then a simple small motel room

This is a great choice if you get to visit Santa Barbara.
It's located right next to the beach, the harbour and the marina, in a quiet street but surrounded by luxury hotels and houses.
Just a few blocks away from the bars and pubs.
Staff is really nice and helpful.
Rooms are comfy, bathrooms are a little small but with good amenities.
Hotel has a little jacuzzi tub right next to the parking lot, really nice!

We stayed here one night on our way to Northern California. We were greeted by the couple who run the hotel, very friendly and helpful people. The outside of the property was neat and clean. The layout is a one story motel where the rooms open directly onto the parking lot. The room was clean (with the exception of the shower), but outdated. The complimentary breakfast is a basic no frills continental breakfast with packaged muffins and danishes, boxed juices and coffee (no fruit or yogurt). Overall this is just an average hotel, I think you could get better accommodations for the same price. I would not stay here again.

Stayed here for the location which was great. Walked into shops/dining on State St., then later to the Santa Barbara Bowl for a concert (a little over a mile away). We used to stay here quite often years ago, when it was the El Prado Inn. It isn't the same anymore.

Room was a decent size and seemed clean enough. Beds were comfortable enough. Nice to have a refrigerator. However the room was musty-smelling and showed it's age. Everything was old and worn. I think the shower head was the original one from when the place was built. Could be a decent place again with some fresh paint, new furniture, bathroom refurbishment and some dual-pane windows.

There is a small market across the street which was very convenient. Very early In the morning, however, there were delivery trucks and garbage trucks and all kinds of noise coming from that area. Perhaps asking for a room overlooking the pool would be quieter.

The staff was not very friendly, but not rude either. Just doing their job and that was it.. At check-in I had to ask what time breakfast started as I wasn't given any info. The clerk seemed embarrassed and said it wasn't really breakfast, just some Danish. He should have been embarrassed! They have a nice-looking, newly remodeled breakfast area, and there was one tray of wrapped-up muffins and cinnamon rolls in the middle of a long counter all alone. Not even a microwave to warm one up. I had to laugh, it was so pathetic. They did have coffee, tea and hot chocolate as well. Luckily we brought cereal and fruit with us.

Overall, I'd stay here again for one night purely for the location. No other reason to choose this motel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing away from the noisy street.

First of all the location is very good. Just a couple blocks from the beach. Very low rates during the weekdays. Safe and clean enough. Friendly staff. We've stayed there in the past and will return next year.

We had been travelling through California and decided to spend a night in Santa Barbara. Looking through loads of hotels in the area we thought it' posh' enough to try a lower budget overnight stay. Many cheaper hotels in the US are very good quality and very comfortable..but not here!
Park your car in the ground floor carpark that looks like a tramps overnight lodgings and make your way to the decievingly attractive lobby. We arrived 5 mins after check in and was told that our room was still not ready but for 'a small price of an upgrade' we could have a larger room that was ready. Smelling a rat ( not literally..yet) we declined and said we would come back later. Low and behold the room magically became available!
To get to your room make your way up the lift and drag your case around concrete walkways- simular to those in a multistory carpark.
The room looked like a depressing OAPS retirement home with high back easy chairs and polyester bedcovers. The carpet was frayed around the concrete walls and the bathroom albeit clean- was terribly uninviting. I also itched thoughout the night- i dread to think why. The Wifi was dropping out every time you log in. it works best in the lobby.
We spent a lovely night in Santa Barbara- go to Joes Diner on the main road that leads to the pier-great food in a 1930's setting). Sadly i was not looking forward to spending the night in the hotel. Thank goodness it was only the one and more fool me booking there.

We had a great stay at the Days Inn! We booked one night and then our car broke down and we had to stay for 4 nights. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. Carlos gave me a special rate due to our catastrophe with the car. The rooms were nice, the beds were comfortable and the pool was lovely. It is very conveniently located on State Street close to entertainment and restaurants. I would stay there again in a heartbeat because the staff was so great. I'd like to thank Carlos again for being so nice, it made a bad situation a much better one.

Room Tip: rooms facing the pool are a bit more quiet
