“Great whole apartment suite and pool!”
Reviewed June 17, 2008

We stayed here with out 1 year old and it was perfect, a full kitchen, bathroom, living room, walk in closet and dining room as well as king sized bedroom! The pool was great and the decor and parking were superb! We will stay here again when we visit Santa Barbara again!

  • Liked — full kitchen, fridge and walk in closet

I liked this inn, it was cosy & clean and the staff were very friendly. The extras of the breakfast, wine, cheese, milk & cookies were lovely. The pool is a little small and there is need for better decor and you can hear a nearby train but I would go back.

  • Liked — The extras - cookies, wine etc
  • Disliked — Being near the road

This place has some really nice touches: very fresh breakfast (also offers evening wine hour and evening milk & cookies), free DVD rentals, great staff. We really enjoyed our stay. Only disclaimer is that I would not consider this "at the beach" -- you can count on an almost ten minute walk before you hit sand. But hey, it's super close to the Brewhouse on Montecito -- great menu!

This is a good basic hotel to stay at for families who are looking for a full-size kitchen and decent suite near the beach. We slept pretty well here with the kids in Brisas Penthouse #7. The Air Conditioning was good and the room was quiet despite the fact that the back windows overlooked the Exxon Gas Station and Car Wash.

Here are the minuses:

The Brisas Penthouse is described on the hotel's website as having a jacuzzi tub. That's not true. The one we stayed in (#7) had a regular tub and shower. When my husband asked about this the front desk girl said that the "shape of the tub" made it a jacuzzi. I don't know what she was talking about because the tub was a regular tub.

The back of the suite overlooked the Exxon Gas Station and Car Wash. It's noisy if you have the windows open. If all the windows are closed you'd never know it was there.

On our first day there, the toilet overflowed. We had toilet water all over our bathroom floor. Thankfully the service staff fixed this problem that day.

The dishes in the kitchen were dirty with crusty food dried onto the supposedly clean dishes in the cupboard. It was obvious the staff trust guests to clean the dishes properly and put them away clean. If the guests leave dirty dishes behind, the maids have very little time to wash dishes so they probably just wash and rinse them quickly before putting them away.

The front desk personnel were okay but the checkout person wasn't too friendly or knowledgeable when my husband inquired about a AAA discount for our stay.

Despite these minuses our room was generally clean and comfortable. However my husband, who is more picky than I am, announced we won't be staying here again.

  • Liked — Comfortable
  • Disliked — No jacuzzi in this penthouse as described on website

We travelled 6000 miles from Scotland to have a sunny vacation in Santa Barbara and picked the Brisas del Mar at random. Boy what a lucky strike.
This is a real gem of a place in a beautiful setting only two blocks from the beach and harbor and not much further to tthe mighty State Street.
The roooms are beautifully furnished and kept spotlessly clean by the friendly housekeeping team. Reception staff are efficient, friendly and very, very helpful.
Comps? Well there is a free continental breakfast, coffee and cake all day, wine and cheese every afternoon and cookies and milk in the evening. There is also a small pool, a jacuzzi and gym and they hand out DVDs free to watch in your room and they even give you free bottles of water.
A superb place to stay.
PS It is also only 10 minutes stroll from the Amtrak Station

This charming hotel has wonderful caring staff. We checked in after driving up from San Diego. We were offered wine and cheese upon our arrival. Our room was clean with soft white sheets and pillows. The decor was warm and had a feeling of home, with a fireplace and granite counter tops. Breakfast the next morning was super with fresh friut, bagels, eggs and cereal.

We had a great time in Santa Barbara, per recommendation for events by the hotel staff. Even the housekeeper were very friendly.

Further to my husbands review that is already included below (the one year wedding anniversary trip), when we told the front desk the extreme discomfort we experienced in this hotel, he proceeded to charge us the full rate with no attempt to try and fix the situation. We then spent the morning of our anniversary trying to find another hotel to stay at rather than enjoying the city of Santa Barbara. It was a terrible experience and extremely disappointing.

  • Liked — That we had a roof over our heads for the night.
