“Lovely place to stopover”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2012

We were a bit worried when we pulled up as the car park was fairly uninspiring but the check in was efficient and friendly and the rooms were good, overlooking a garden and pool area. It's a short walk down to the sea front and to State Street for shops and restaurants. The breakfast was OK, but get there in plenty of time as we were there just before 10 on one day and the server started packing everything away on the dot of 10 o'clock. We didn't get to the wine and cheese reception, but the cookies were good. The photos on trip advisor do make it look fabulous and the reality is that it is smaller and not as up-market as they suggest, but it was a lovely place and I would recommend it.

We stayed at the Inn By The Harbor on our honeymoon for 4 nights on our way up the coast to San Francisco. we really didn't know what to expect but we were impressed throughout our stay there.

We arrived late at night and had to check in at the system hotel across the road, this wasn't a problem at all and the staff were really friendly and were expecting us. They showed us our room and gave us massive amounts of information for our stay in Santa Barbra, nothing seemed to be too much for them.

The rooms are very clean, if a little small, and have everything you could need and have a really homely feel. This was mirrored throughout the hotel and everyone seemed to take a lot of pride in the hotel and their roles.

One of the best parts of staying at this hotel were the added extras you got, some of which you just really wouldn't expect. The free breakfast was fab, not only saved us loads of money but was also of a really good standard. Following on from this was the cheese and wine which we both really loved, and I'm told the wine is local, a nice bonus. The cookies and milk was a nice touch for those with children as it was served just before their bed time. You can also hire dvd's for free, they have a good selection.

By far and away my favourite freebie you get at the hotel is the use of the free bikes to get around Santa Barabra, we used them every day and loved every minute of it.

All in all a wonderful stay in a wonderful location, we have already recommended the hotel and will be returning again.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground level room for a bit of a patio to sit in the sun on.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Its location could have been better - closer to beach and shops, but this was made up for by lots of extras. We were surprised to get cheese and wine in the evening and free continental breakfast - unheard of throughout the rest of our stay in US. Very friendly and helpful staff in this hotel, which appeared to be family run.

Extremely friendly staff (except for one gentleman at the reception desk) at this cute and cozy little hotel. The rooms face each other on a nice inner garden and pool, and there is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere to the whole place. The location is not the greatest, as it could be closer to the waterfront or the centre, but they more than make up for it by including breakfast and offering complementary wine and cheese every evening followed by milk and cookies, free Wi-Fi, free movie loans and, a real plus, by lending you bicycles for free. All in all a very good value for the money and a very enjoyable stay.

Stopped off here for three nights during Highway 1 roadtrip. Loved it. Very warm, helpful staff and relaxed air to this small hotel. Pool is small but works for the size of hotel. Kids loved the pool-side hot tub. Rooms well appointed incl fridge and coffee-making. bathrooms a little dated however but clean. Free wifi. Good buffet breakfast. Free drinks and muffins all day. Free cheese and wine from 5pm too - a real bonus!

In terms of location the hotel isn't quite "by the harbor"...it's a c 7 minute walk to the end of the road but it's near enough. Bike hire is free from their sister hotel next door which was appreciated (tip - bikes have no brakes...you pedal backwards to brake).

Room Tip: Request first floor room as this gets you a balcony (shared with other rooms).

At last some friendly service! The staff here were great, dealing with some difficult customers ahead of us excellently. They were smiley, enthusiastic and helpful with all of our queries. We happened to arrive during free cheese and wine, a great surprise! Then not too long to wait until free cookies time which were amazing!

The facilities seemed good, pool, dvd library, free bike rental which we didn't have time to make use of, but there was free wifi and very cheap laundry facilities, although if you want to use them be aware they can be popular and times are limited as they are next door to a room.

The room was good, a little dated in places, but that just made it feel more comfy. Everything was spotless.

Great supply of breakfast items, we were able to wander up, get a tray and wander back to the room or sit outside the room on benches in the garden type area.

Really sorry to leave.

We had 2 nights here. We had a king room and it was very spacious with a kitchen and shared balcony - although our room (22) was at the end meaning no one would walk past so it was a good spot. The hotel has a very relaxed and easy going vibe - the staff were so helpful and told us about a fabulous local restaurant and books us on a whale watching trip (the best I have been on as we saw blue whales and humpbacks). The small pool area was perfect for our needs, but you wouldn't want to spend an entire day there. Its only a short walk to the beach (10 mins) and the hotel offer free bike rentals so you can cycle all along the boardwalk - a must. The hotel also offers a wine and cheese at 4-6pm and then cookies and milk at 6-8pm - both a nice touch especially if you have been out all day.

Room Tip: room 22 is good.
