Have not been back to the Pepper Tree in a couple decades. Went back for old-times sake and as pleasantly surprised. Courteous and helpful staff, Cindy in particular. The room was quiet, clean, and quite spacious. Very nice bath room and quality amenities. A little out of the city center, but an easy drive down State....and, did i say quiet? Slept wonderfully.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view...second floor for ultimate quiet.

The location of this hotels is great, the surrounding areas have lots of food and shopping and all within walking distance. One can have all kinds of food ..chinese, western, macdonalds, carl junior, pandera bread, etc and there is even a church opposite the hotel. Even.though to downtown is about 8 miles, it is a good location though. The pool and gym are nice but the sanua is small.

Room Tip: Great hotel.

Stayed here 2 nights travelling up the coast from LA to SF. Santa Barabara is a beautiful place to stop off and this hotel is away from the centre so it was quiet and peaceful. It also has a quaint restaurant which serve lovely homecooked meals. Centre of SB is just a short drive.
Main reception has a lovely roaring fire , coffee, ice water flavoured with citrus fruits and a small gift shop.
Some nice candies/sweets in the room as well.
Our room faced the front the rear balcony door faced the pool and the mountains lovely view.
highly recommended.

We recently got back from 2 nights stat during long weekebd and we throughly enjoyed Santa Barbara. The hotel is lil far from the downtown and hence not the best place to stay in terms of the locations. On my next trip I would pay more to stay right next to the sterns wharf or downtown state street.

Just spent 2 nights here as part of our honeymoon and all I can say was I wish it had been longer. On check in we were greeted very warmly and the lady at reception explained where our room was. We stayed in room 331 and it was perfect. Nice, comfy kingsize bed and huge flat screen tv. The view from our balcony was so pretty. It overlooked the beautifully maintained gardens and swimming pool.
On entering the room we discovered a bottle of Champagne. When my husband went downstairs to thank reception he was told that it was a little something that they did for honeymooners. That was so thoughtful. Not all the hotels we have stayed in during our honeymoon have done this. There was complimentary sweets, fruit and bottled water in our room which were replenished each day. There was also a coffee maker, fridge and microwave. It was like a little home from home. Wifi and car parking were also free which is not always the case in some hotels.
We ate 4 times in the Tree house restaurant which is located just cross from reception. Twice for dinner and twice for breakfast. The food is reasonably priced and very tasty. We had the same waitress serving us for dinner. She was an older lady and she was so lovely.
There is a shopping centre located just across the street with stores such as Macy's and Sears. We got a bus from the shopping centre into downtown Santa Barbara. The lady at reception kindly explained which bus we needed to get.
Downtown Santa Barbara is such a nice place. It is very laid back and has quite a Spanish feel to it. It was a refreshing change from the hussle and bussle of LA. We got a shuttle bus for 50c to Stearns wharf and walked along the pier.
Originally we had just booked to stay in Santa Barbara as a place to rest in between our trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco but after staying here we wish we could have stayed longer. We would definitely consider coming back here and we would definitely stay in the Pepper Tree inn. Everything about it was perfect from the location to its beautiful surroundings and kind and helpful staff.
We have had the most amazing 2 days and all the staff at the Pepper Tree inn have most certainly contributed to it. We cannot praise it enough.

The simple perks that really matter,,,we found fruits, candies, cookies and bottled water in the room. At the front office, there's coffee, more fruits and ice cold lemon water. I loved that you can sit and relax outside your room which is overlooking the pool. I would give them a perfect score except the wifi was very weak.

My husband and I stayed one night here as we celebrated our 17th Wedding Anniversary. I found this hotel to be way better than a lot of Best Westerns, maybe that is why "Plus" is in the name. Our room had an apple and an orange, some Lorna Doone cookies, coffee, a couple bottles of Kirkland (Costco) water, and a little dish filled with candies. This is the first hotel (and I've stayed a many) that had a swivel sitting chair and a recliner. I liked that they have a microwave and a small dorm style refrigerator. I believe every room has a view of the pool and a balcony or patio if you are on the first floor. The balcony is quite long and has to good size sitting chairs which only take up half of the balcony. I was slightly off put by the long mirrored wall but opposite the bed but hey no real problem. The bedding looks more like a nice hotel in Vegas instead of a Best Western. I loved all the pillows that they provide. I believe there were 7 or more pillows of varying size and firmness.

The staff is very friendly and the hotel lobby has plenty of fruit (oranges, apples, and bananas) in addition to several coffees and several flavors of tea. I would so come back and stay here in a heartbeat. I know we were only here one night but given that Santa Barbara is a town full of bed & breakfasts (we stayed at a lovely one 16 years ago for our 1st Anniversary) and expensive hotels, I would stay here for a whole week if I were in town that long.

Room Tip: Since it appears every room has a pool view I don't think there is a "bad" room on the...
