Motel style hotel with rooms on ground or 1st floor (or 1st and 2nd floor as they say here in the USA). Nice friendly welcome, room was clean if a little compact. LOTS of mirrors to give the illusion of space ! Nice touches were a DVD player in the room, Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries in the bathroom, a lockbox and small fridge. There were two pools to chose from. A/C was extremely noisy so had to turn it off at night. Great location for exploring Santa Barbara which is a lovely city. Lots of unique shops to explore on State Street and good restaurants too.

Room Tip: Rooms facing away from parking lot will be quieter.

Pros: Attractive property, lovely pools/hot tubs, free wi-fi

Cons: Doors open to the parking lot which can be noisy, no free breakfast

Very attractive hotel in the Spanish colonial style that fits in well in Santa Barbara. Two pools, two hot tub spas. Rooms very comfortable, A/C a bit noisy. Very close to downtown, across from a shopping mall with eateries and supermarket. Would definitely stay again. No free breakfast, but diner type restaurant on premises.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pools with high floors will likely be the quietest.

We stayed three nights and really enjoyed it. The staff are super nice, forgot their names, but Josh was one of them!! Nice having coffee and water bottles. Would stay again, great setting, only takes a few minutes to get to the shopping and the Santa Barbara Mission.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor, back of the hotel. Great views of the mountains and very quiet...

The Pepper Tree Inn is a great alternative if you're going to Santa Barbara. The location is great, the rooms are very comfortable, and I loved the complimentary water, fruit, and candies in the room. The front desk staff could not be more helpful - great recommendations for restaurants and things to do.

This was a very nice place. I had no problem with freeway noise even though it's set next to the 101. The room was large, and I appreciated the complimentary water and fruit in the room. There was also cookies and coffee in the lobby. There was a coffee shop on the grounds but we didn't use it. I liked the proximity to downtown Santa Barbara and wine country. I would stay here again.

We arrived late and so missed the restaurant but that was a bonus as we went to Chucks Hawaiian Grill 50metres away (another story :-) ).
Our fourth Best Western in a week and definitely the best in terms of layout and green space (we were happy with them all but this one just had an edge due to this).
The room was spacious and perfectly clean with good linen. All rooms are entranced from a peripheral car-park. Ours was ground-floor and so we had a further door out to a small patio and leading to the pool/jacuzzi/hot-tubs which are positioned in the middle of the lawned area.
The front-desk staff were welcoming and helpful with restaurant tips as theirs was closed..
The grounds are well maintained.
The pictures on the web-site create an impression of a much smaller, intimate hotel and this perception is wiped away when you go to park your car but returns if you go through the room to the garden/pool area.
