We are here now, going up the coast to morro bay. I think this is a very nice stop. A
Little pricey 144.00 for a nice king room overlooking tHe pool. Very quiet, clean and tidy.
Comp fruit, water and usa today. We will go to the museum today for the Monet exihibit.
This is on state street, main drag to the beach. Our room is nice and quiet,so instead of
Looking around for something closer to the beach, we will just stay and enjoy it.

Room Tip: 279 is a good choice

Santa Barbara is a pricey place for visitors - and the major chains have not landed in force yet - so we were pleased to find the Pepper Tree Inn available for a college visit - at $184 for a queen and a sofa bed - older property, but some surprises - Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries, fruit and coffee in the lobby, nice clean sheets and comfortable bed. But the electric wall heater, louver windows in the bathroom, and other details could be attended to on the next upgrade. Given the choices, I would definitely stay here again. Conveniently located across from a Vons and a a Whole Foods, and on the main drag of State Street.

Room Tip: Upstairs in the back away from State street!

Stayed four nights. Reserved multiple rooms for wedding guests arriving at various days and times. Hotel staff was extra accommodating having rooms ready for early arrivals and arranging rooms on ground level for seniors. Service was superb staff was gracious to all requests. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. We found the Pepper Tree to be every bit accommodating as our stay at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Beach. Thank you Pepper Tree, we will return.

Room Tip: Just ask the desk help and they will make every effort to help you.

Friendly, helpful staff. The rooms are very dated but very clean. One of the few places without a 2 night min stay on the weekend. Good location. Staff went out of their way to accommodate everyone in 5 rooms - including early check in. Complimentary bottle of champagne in the evening. Reasonable rates for the area - still pricey

My wife and I had a one night stay here during our trip from San Francisco to LA. We arrived around 8PM on a Saturday night and were very well received. We were in our room in no time. The room was spacious, very clean and quiet. It was on the upper floor, with a balcony facing the hotel pool.

We left our bags in our room and went to have dinner near the pier. You need a car to go there, since the hotel is a bit far from the busier part of State Street.

The city streets were packed with young people going to bars and night clubs (God, I feel old!). Santa Barbara looks nice but we left early in the next morning and didn't spend much time in it.

Have recently returned from an 8 night stay at this hotel. It is clean and comfortable in pleasant, relaxing surroundings. The staff are friendly and helpful.During our stay there was a sea fret covering the coastal area on several days. The hotel is several miles from the beach, and at a slight elevation,so was not affected by the mist.Although it is away from downtown it is easy enough to catch a bus if you don't have a car(either from State Street or La Cumbre Plaza).Santa Barbara is a good choice of resort. There is a lot to see in the area.
Our flight arrived into L.A.in the evening. We were relying on catching the last Santa Barbara Airbus at 10pm.This bus didn't show up,so if you don't want to be stranded at night,be prepared to part with 300 dollars for a taxi fare to Santa Barbara! For our return flight at midday we caught the Amtrak train to L.A.then the Flyaway bus to the airport.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from State Street. The traffic noise begins at about 7am!
