My girlfriend and I spent one night there and we really had a lovely stay.
+We had a small one bedroom with a little garden.
+The food basket that they give you when you arrive is perfect for your breakfast - especially the banana bread!
+There are nice outdoor spaces.
+The location is pretty central.
+Wifi was quick too + The staff was really nice.
+You can also borrow one of their bikes or dvd for free!

My husband and I stayed here for a romantic get-away in May 2013. This little place did not disappoint! The room was so adorable and had all the right touches. The welcome basket with fresh baked bread was above and beyond. We had the best nights sleep, the beds and pillow were so comfortable. We only stayed 3 nights, so we did not have time to use the bikes, etc... that they offer, but there is no doubt that we will stay here again. I will recommend this place to anyone I know going to Santa Barbara. The location is also quite nice, it was very quiet and a close walk to State Street. The harbor is right there, which is so nice to walk while the sun is setting and a quick jog in the morning. Brophy Brothers restaurant is also walking distance. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating. This place is a winner.

Room Tip: All the rooms are different. We stayed in a very cozy room the first 2 nights and then a larger roo...

We reserved a room for my birthday and were upgraded to the King Suite. It was amazing! The suite was spacious with a very comfortable bed and a huge bathroom which featured a large jetted tub surrounded by tile. The suite had a comfortable sitting area and a dining table with four chairs and was decorated beautifully.
The suite featured a kitchenette with its own sink, microwave and small refrigerator. I understand that some units have full kitchens, but I wouldn't want to trade my suite for a kitchen!
There was also a small patio area with a small table and two chairs in our "backyard".
Harbor House offers free use of a variety of bikes and beach items for guests' enjoyment.
An added bonus was the breakfast basket that was ready for us upon arrival. It featured homemade banana bread, biscotti, nuts, fresh fruits and juice.
Harbor House is located a couple blocks from the beach. The parking spaces are on the small side, but we were lucky because the Inn wasn't filled the night we stayed there.
The woman who checked us in was very friendly, as was the owner/manager we met in the morning. They both showed a lot of pride in this establishment!
We were very happy with our stay and plan to return.

We stayed here for 5 nights in May 2013. We were upgraded to a deluxe room and I have to say it is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. The apartment is beautifully decorated in perfect condition and cleaned every day. The location is fantastic and the staff extremely helpful and to top it off its great value. We are delighted to have spent our last week of honeymoon here.

I suppose ladies of a certain age will love the personal care that the owner put in to decorate the place in an antiquey, cutesy manner. The place does have a sweet vibe and nice staff. However, for your $250 for an average-size, queen-bed room, you don't get much. The worst is parking--ridiculously obstructed spaces that are truly unnerving if you are not a professional valet. For a room which has only one queen bed, not two, my room was of acceptable size, but grossly inconvenient. No writing desk--all you get is an odd 22-inch square pedestal table that you could not possibly sit at, since the splayed legs would be in the way. You get two uncomfortable chairs that do have padded seats and backs, but horrible Mission-style spindles for armrests; no sofa, loveseat, etc.. Fridge and microwave are included, as is a "breakfast basket." The latter contains some fruit (good), some drinks loaded with high fructose corn syrup (not good), and a few plastic wrapped thingies. There is of course nothing warm, other than the tea/coffee you can make yourself. The advertising of the "breakfast basket" tends to give the impression that you would be getting something prepared with a personal touch, like at better B&Bs. Alas, what you get is HFCS and plastic wrapped thingies. Being very close to the beach would be appealing to some people, but I'm not a beach person.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of the Harbor House Inn. I am sad to hear that your stay was less than enjoyable and did not meet all of your expectations.

As owner and manager of the hotel, I personally strive to ensure that room amenities as well as decor and ambiance are comfortable and satisfying for each & every guest. Even though it’s difficult pleasing all tastes and desires, I do acknowledge and learn from all comments improving my business as need be. Unfortunately, our limited parking situation is unchangeable with extra spaces for larger vehicles directly in front of the Inn.

For all readers of this review, I feel it is important to detail what our welcome breakfast basket includes. Every evening, we personally bake our popular banana nut bread from scratch. Our five juices of V-8, apple, cranberry, strawberry yogurt smoothie, and peach nectar have always been well received. We also include 100% natural gluten/vegan free nut snacks as well as our local Santa Barbara biscotti which are also favorites. Fresh oranges, apples & bananas along with bottled water and a hand written welcome note complete each basket. Since 14 of our 17 rooms have fully equipped kitchens, each room has a full size coffee maker with fresh ground coffee from the Santa Barbara Roasting Company along with an assortment of five teas. Cream, sugars, honey, jams, butter and margarine are also stocked in the rooms as well.

As far as our room categories, each room is one-of-a kind and individually decorated. Three rooms have layouts with a table & upholstered chairs along with a refrigerator, microwave & coffee maker, while others have larger floor plans that include a kitchen, loveseat, sofa or desk. Had we known about a specific request, we certainly would have suggested a different room with a more convenient layout for your business needs.

We hope that you will consider staying with us again to amend the less than acceptable time you experienced. Please feel free to e-mail or phone us directly to voice any other concerns, as customer satisfaction is always our #1 priority.

This was a great place to stay at the end of our trip to California. We walked into a lovely spacious bedroom with a large comfortable bed and then the surprise came when we walked to the bathroom to discover a good size well equipped kitchen. There was a lovely welcome hamper of fresh fruit and homemade banana bread, juices etc.

The staff were very friendly and there are bikes for use by guests free of charge. Just right for a cycle along the beach front.

Location is great just a few minutes walk to the beach and about 10-15mins walk to the Downtown area which has lots of restaurants. We found a bar with its own micro brewrey which kept hubby happy trying the different ales.

I guess the only down side as this is a converted motel is the rooms all look out on to the main entrance and so not very private and need to keep blinds closed as bedroom at the front.

All in all though a great place to spend a few days.

I loved my stay here. The staff made me feel very at home and I stayed in a lovely one bedroom mini-aparment. In the corner, maybe no 7, with a little kitchen-ette and a separate lounge. none of the rooms were huge, but the bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on. Having the bikes available is a huge plus.
