Amazing EVERYTHING!
Cottage style bed and breakfast.
It's like you are walking into the "Secret Garden". We arrived late and the key was in a envelope outside with a welcome letter, there was beautiful soothing music playing the elegant Victorian style room when we walked in. We had the "CRAFTSMAN'S ROOM which I highly recommend. There is a private patio with an awesome jacuzzi for two. In the morning breakfast was delivered and it was the best quiche and side of sugar sprinkled fruit I ever had. My husband and I Jacuzzied for most of the night and looked at the stars. It was such an amazing night.

Room Tip: Craftsman's Room. A++++

We found nothing specifically bad that would warrant a complaint, but many things were just not quite right.

Best thing here was location, a 5 minute walk to State Street, which is the main drag in town. We stayed one night in the Hideaway suite, which does have a private entrance, little patio w/ table, A/C, and a jacuzzi tub that looked dubious and we did not try it. The layout of the suite is weird, with a larger bathroom area than living area, but we didn't really mind that as old houses broken up into separate units often result in odd configurations like that. The breakfast was fine: a fruit cup, some kind of veg frittata, banana bread, and OJ left at our doorstep with a knock.

The bed was squeaky, and not very comfortable. Everything seemed clean enough, but had a general musty smell. The shampoo bottles had "Do Not Take" written in sharpie across the label, which we found tacky.

The biggest annoyance is that this place is very schedule conscious. There is only a 3 hour window for check-in. A sign on the mantle reminded us that a 15min late checkout would result in a $25 charge. Our breakfast basket came with a note to leave dirty dishes and basket on the stoop by the end of breakfast time so they could keep on their housekeeping schedule. This all just produced some anxiety and was not expected from a B & B, which usually are all about comfort and relaxation.

The innkeeper is a New Yorker, which explains some of his hospitality - or minor lack thereof. He wasn't rude by any means, but we left wondering why he was in the B & B business as he didn't really seem to enjoy hosting people. I would look for somewhere else if ever in SB again.

We arrived late one night and left early the next morning. Our key was left outside the front door with a welcome note as all staff leave by 7pm. We had no problems and it was very welcoming when we walked in music playing etc... if a little spooky as it was deserted!

We stayed in the Garden Room and it is, as someone said in an earlier review a B&B that may have a style that appeals to older travellers. The themed room was very thorough, bird boxes on the walls, plants, garden patterned curtains, wallpaper and beadspead, it was also a little small for us to manouvre our suitcases. Downstairs had "traditional" older style furniture also, with free coffee and tea, although no one was about it was still a very welcoming place and obviously a lot of thought has gone into the little touches!

This was the best value accomodation we could find in Santa Barbara, a lot of the places we looked at had a minumum 2 night stay. We discovered the next day there was a Summer Solstice festival on that weekend so perhaps this was why a lot of accomodation we looked at seemed very overpriced in Santa Barbara.

The B&B had off street parking and wi-fi, and the breakfast was homemade and lovely.

The location was great, although we drove to Slate Street (the main area) we could easily have walked it.

One suprising thing I must point out was the room had a jacuzzi bath! Altough Im not sure if the people in the next room would have been too pleased with the noise! We did spend the night whispering as the place gave of the vibe of staying at your Grandparents house!

It was ideal for what we wanted, a one night stay in the smaller town of Santa Barbara. We was made to feel very welcoming.

We had a total of three couples and we took the train up to Santa Barbara and stayed for a super relaxing and fun weekend. Marleise the Proprieator cooked tasty breakfasts and served us our wonderful breakfasts out in the garden (of course by choice) in our room specific colored robes provided in each room! We had a room breakfast option but so pretty outside!
John our greeted host (who by the way sounds like Christopher Walkin) was tehre from our first moment to our departure making out stay fantastic and served us our evening 5:00 drink, appetizers (along with his quick whit) kept us all entertained. We met other wonderful Inn quests from all over and enjoyed a few laughs and great conversation before leaving for our evening's adventures. The rooms were very clean, nice and uniquely decorated.
WE will be back! Great service and such a great host!
The Inn has a variety of room types depending on what your preference is everything from private suites with an outdoor jacuzzi to copyz smaller rooms in the main house.

We were disappointed with the rooms we have got. They were dusty and stuffy. The beds were old and squeaked all night with every move. The back yard of our room was neglected and the overall feeling was cheap. Not recommended!

OK I need to be fair straight up. We arrived late one night and left early the next so I am really only reviewing the room and facilities here.

This appered to be an old-style B&B in terms of design. We stayed in the Country Room and it was what I would call a B&B that may have a style that appeals to older travellers. Think Roosters on the wall in a somewhat dated country theming. I am not sure of the other rooms. Downstairs had "traditional" older style furnature etc...

Having said that there were numerous positives - it was reasonably priced, had off street parking, has wi-fi, is pretty well located and the breakfast was pretty good (fritatta, fresh fruit salad, fresh OJ) and the service appeared to be reasonably good also.

Would I recommend it? Depends on what you want it for and your personal style. It was fine for what we needed, but I wouldn't say to friends that it was highly recommended.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights in April of 2011. The owner, John, was great, as was his wife (don't remember her name, darn it). The two room suite we rented was simple but tasteful and had a nice patio and yard to sit in to eat or have tea or coffee. Wireless internet worked well and the location is great. Since Santa Barbara is so easy to walk you can be on State in the middle of everything in 5 minutes and the beach is a nice 30 minute walk at the most. The neighborhood is residential and really quiet at night making sleep easy, especially since the bed was so comfortable. I'm not a great sleeper but I slept great here. One more thing is that my wife and I are vegan and the owners provided us with a nice vegan breakfast all three mornings we were there. All in all, White Jasmine Inn is a great value in a town full of overpriced motels and hotels. Definitely recommended!
