“Classy B&B - highly recommended!”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

The Cheshire Cat Inn is located in a nice and quiet location, just a few blocks from State Street. The owners are British, and so is the style of this B&B. Old furniture, wallpaper with patterns, but all very tastefully done. The rooms are very nice, very clean and equipped with everything one needs.

Breakfast and pre-dinner wine and snacks are served either inside or in the patio between the 2 main buildings of the place. There is no large breakfast buffet, but what is available is really good and makes you leave fully satisfied, including excellent homemade scones, a dish of the day, nice orange juice.

What makes this place stand out is the attention to detail. Even as a seasoned and critical traveller, I didn't find any negatives. Add to this the nice and personal service and a fair value, and all is set for a very enjoyable stay. Highly recommended!

My husband and I stayed here four nights and loved every minute of our stay. The Inn is CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN, and the hospitality is warm and gracious. We had a lovely breakfast every morning outdoors in the garden and enjoyed wine and cheese in the late afternoon in the garden as well. The entire staff is wonderful and friendly, particularly Connie and Suzanne, who are personable, friendly, and kind. The staff anticipates your every need, so your stay will be quite comfortable. The Inn is located a block off State Street, so it is close to the "action", yet tucked away enough to make you feel you are at a private resort. We highly recommend this hotel, and intend to stay there again when we return to the west coast.

Room Tip: All rooms are wonderful! There is nothing negative to say about this hotel!!!

We stayed here for 1 night as part of our 2 week self drive for our honeymoon. The house itself is stunning, the area is quiet but is a short walk to all the lovely restaurants and shops Santa Barbara have to offer. The wine and canapés in the evening are a lovely touch, as are the brownies when you get back after dinner. The rooms are clean, quirky and very welcoming. We stayed in the Dormouse room, the bed was so comfy and the room was light and airy. There is a hot tub, free tea and coffee all day as well as the wine, canapés and brownies I've mentioned... There is no reason not to stay here. It's beautiful and a real treat!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Dormouse which was lovely, light, bright and airy. It's the cheaper of the room...

Stayed here for two nights in the Queen of Hearts room. Attractive property set in immaculate gardens. If you are looking for a contemporary modern run of the mill hotel then this is not for you. Themed rooms and warm hospitality is what's on offer. Just approximately a 10 minute stroll to main area. Quiet and relaxing. Tea and coffee making facilities in the main area which was very useful would also have been nice to have had those in the room.
Breakfast was first class with ample choice, served on the patio area which was lovely. All in all an excellent bed and breakfast with a quirky alternative to the norm. Would wholly recommend.

My husband & I were looking for a place to celebrate our anniversary. We wanted something on the beach but everything was so expensive and wasn't even beach front. After internet searching we came across this little gem a few blocks from State street. The beach was just a short drive away. Loved it! The place was clean, quaint and perfect. We enjoyed the spa. The owner Christine and the innkeeper Suzanne were so sweet and helpful and the food was wonderful. The only downfall was no AC in our room, but we knew that going in and they did have portable fans. I believe other rooms have AC but we wanted a balcony room. We will definitely return! Thank you for a fabulous stay!

Room Tip: Some rooms have balconies, some have fireplaces, some have AC, some have spa tubs, it really depends...

We stayed here for one night on our way from San Francisco to LA, we arrived at about 9pm so had a late chek in but we had been given instruction on how to get into the inn. We stayed in a 2 bed chalet across the road from the main inn but it was really nice, everything we needed was there and it felt very private.
Breakfast was in the main room and there were also a few tables outside as it was a nice morning, plenty to eat and great waiting staff. All in all a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Branhall was very quiet and private

We stayed two nights at the Chesire Cat Inn. What a wonderful find. It was the weekend of the Spanish Festival so we must have lucked into a cancellation as the town as booked. Two beautiful Victorian houses impeccably decorated and maintained with modern room conveniences. The hosts were so friendly with a wine and cheese happy hour, wonderful breakfast, and interesting guests willing to share the knowledge of Santa Barbara and the surrounding area. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: Each room is themed. We stayed in Alice's room. All the rooms are great with private balconies o...
