My wife and I typically stay at the Hiltons / Marriotts of the world, but we decided to try out smaller hotels and inns during our trip to California. Unfortunately for us, it rained like crazy on the two days that we were there- but we could tell that the location was great and across the street from the water. This hotel was on the pricey side for what you got, but that might be expected with all the hotels in the area. Free parking (or I should say included parking) was a plus, breakfast was a weak, and you're probably not going to get any good views from the rooms. Service was friendly and the rooms were clean. Hotel was overall nice, but if I were to do it again, since it's comparable to the bigger hotel chains in terms of accommodations and price, I would just go with the chains to get the points.

We stayed in Santa Barbara for one night in August as part of our two weeks trip in California. We had booked the casa del Mar as we liked very much the pictures they have on their website and following the reviews on trip advisor, which were quite good. The place is ok after all, it's rather expensive as they call themselves a "inn", but actually it's a motel. The rooms appear so charming on the pictures, they are actually oldish and extremely small. The bathroom is again oldish but clean. they have a spa area, it's actually a jacuzzi pool for one person only as it's very small. There is wine and cheese in the evening (all establishments in the area offer that) and a small breakfast in the morning (coofee/tea/ juice, muffins and bananas). At the end of the game it's ok, clean, very charming alleys full of flowers lead you to a very small room that looks like a motel room. No more than that. But for a motel you don't really pay 180 USD plus taxes......
As for parking, you park your car in front of your room or in a small garage, but it is on a first-come-first served basis. It's free if you find a place, otherwise you park on the road, with all the risks it has. The location is ok, just off the city center (but at 10 minutes by walking) and (unfortunately) just off the seashore, which means you don't get any sea view.....

Stayed 2 nights in this hotel, mainly because our original hotel bumped us out, sooooo we had to settle for this one, it is very clean, quaint renovated since we last stayed here. The beds are wonderful and soft, the only complaint was the first room we had was a suite it is nice, except it smelled so bad of mold, they should really look into this, in the bathroom area(room 30) I'm allergic to mold and I had a rough night, did not sleep, The next room they put us in was on the street, they don't have airconditioning so you have to have a window open, the noise was horrendous.....could not sleep(room 20), so my suggestion would be don't book either of these rooms if these things bother you. so I got 2 nights without sleep. Other than this it is an o.k. Inn, but there are lots others much better in S.B for under what this one charges.....The Cont. breakfast is pretty good though. way too expensive in the high season.....

We didn't really know what to expect from our accomodation because most of the time pictures of website are not so realistic. But we had a nice surprise. We had the 2 rooms suite deluxe. We enter in a large room where there is a sofa, armchairs, t.v., fireplace, a desk and a bouble bed. There is also a little kitchen and another separate double bedroom. Each bedroom have is own complete bathroom. The location is perfect : near the beach and not too far from State street. The garden around the casa is well maintained and the flowers are beautiful. The breakfast is not special but it is enough to start the day nicely. We had a very pleasant stay.

We stayed 2 nights and stayed in a just renovated nicely decorated room with good bathroom and excellent bed. The breakfast is simple but good. There is jaccuzi which you can use untill 2200. You have to walk about 15 minutes to the main street with all the restaurants and shops, but you are close to the pier and beach. Parking is free, so is wifi. The staff was helpful and polite.
Summary: Nice clean hotel with good service
