“Very, very good...equally expensive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

I have eaten at Via Vai many times over the years with family... But probably about once a year. The food is amazing, absolutely amazing, and you really can't go wrong.
Via Vai definitely has a very "Montecito" feel to it... The occasional celeb-spotting and high-class people surrounding you. Be prepared to burn a hole in your pocket, and dress accordingly.

“Nice outdoor seating”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2012

Italian trattoria kind of spot. Not too formal which is nice. Food was fine, not stellar but I would go again for the overall experience.

“Yummo!!”

Beautiful day. We were able to sit outside. The prices are CA reasonable. Good people watching too! I had a rigatoni dish that was out of this world! Good service for us.

“Delicious!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 25, 2012

This restaurant has excellent food, and the patio is great! Their service, however, could definitely be improved! Some of their waiters are not very pleasant, and are often rude! The waitresses are great, and some of the younger waiters are very nice. Their pizza and insalata cappucina are delicious!

“Who runs front of house?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2012

Just returned from eating there...food far below the average they usually serve (but this is twice now that the food and service is sub--standard), everyone said it was like it had all sat under a heat lamp--FOR A LONG TIME....As for front of house: W\ho runs this place? The teenager who seats you? The gruff manager seeming guy without a bit of Italian charm to calm his customers? A bunch of people running from table to table with wrong orders. Lets hope Pane e Vino (owned by the same people) hasn't fallen to this low standard. Don't usually want to point out negative stuff but this was really just unacceptable and it was the second time in a few weeks. I've eaten there a dozen times and never really felt the need to praise the place in a review, but neither would I bash it. Now I am afraid it is in sad need of a makeover. High Notes: Hard to screw up a salad
