Stopped for dinner on a Thursday in order to take advantage of the Art Museum (next door) late hours. Food was wonderful. The Scandinavian Duck was great. The bakery was incredible as well. After we had already made a "takeaway" purchase, they continued to ply us with delicious samples. Very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended.

This is a long-time, well established restaurant & bakery where the owner seems to be there at all hours. The bakery has so many beautifully prepared and presented pastries, it is impossible to dine & then leave without a purchase from the pastry case. With an unbelievably well thought out menu, this is a must dine spot for any meal, though our favorite is the bountiful breakfasts with such a fantastic variety of selections. We have been eating here for many years and the food and service have always been excellent. The front patio is small; but a great people watching spot and the interior is warm and welcoming, especially on a cold, foggy Santa Barbara morning. The prices are very reasonable and the entire experience had always been one of the most consistently excellent in the downtown area.

A charming patisserie/restaurant right on Santa Barbara's main drag, State Street, which is the only warning I need to voice...State Street attracts everything a city can possibly produce: residents, tourists, young men on skateboards, folks who talk to themselves and shout at their inner demons, etc. so be aware of that if you choose to sit outside.

As far as the food and pastries go, however, they are both excellent. As others have mentioned here, you might think this is only a place to buy pastries but you'd miss out on a lot if you don't stay for a meal.

Dishes are conscientiously prepared, beautifully presented and cooked to order. We enjoyed a chicken curry, a tuna sandwich and a slice of lemon mousse pie all of which were very good. Service is attentive and the place is decorated in that very unique, almost-kitschy way so many of these types of places seem to prefer....lots of blue and white dishes screwed to the walls.

Found this place by accident, seemed like an upmarket bakery, which in essence it is the pastries, sweets and cakes are delicious.
Decided to have a dinner there the menu is small but the dishes served are fabulous, tried three starters, the shrimps were superb, the chicken liver pâté was sublime, but best of all was a dish of Watermelon, salad, reduced balsamic and feta cheese the combination was divine.
Mains of a shrimp tagliatelle and sole served on potato Rosti were equally delicious, great service friendly staff this is really a great place to go for dinner, as well as the fabulous patisserie.

Great for afternoon tea, situated on the main road so good to watch the world go by.
Great coffee and so many cakes to choose from, try the strawberry tart or the eclair you won't be disappointed.
