When you sit down to eat at the Beachbreak Cafe, you look around at the 'breaking wave' mural and the surfing posters and think - "This place feels like a small surfing town in California and it's going to be a regular for us". Well, that thought was knocked out of our heads as soon as the food arrived. Just because it's near the beach and probably caters mostly to tourists is no reason, I feel, to offer downright bad food! The breakfast sandwich featured a roll that must have been around for 3-4 days - no exaggeration. No teeth on a human being have been invented that could bite through that tough excuse for bread. The hash browns were tasty but served at below room temp, which is some accomplishment when it's cold outside. My huevos rancheros were forgettable. How can you serve a tasteless Mexican dish?
There is obviously no one at the wheel at this restaurant. They must survive on hapless tourists who won't be back in town again. But for this SB resident, it's onward and upward and never again at this less than mediocre place.
