My husband and I spent 3 relaxing nights at this beautiful hotel as part of our trip touring around California! Valet parking ($25per night) and check in were smooth. We were initially very pleased with our room, beautiful king sized 4 poster bed and beautiful bathroom, however, when we got back from dinner and tucked up in bed we noticed a very loud noise emanating into the room which vibrated the bed slightly making it feel like we were on a aeroplane! We called reception who sent an engineer, it transpired this was a noise from the kitchen which could not be turned off (we were on the 5th floor). We were not happy with this noise and requested to move rooms, as there weren't any available that night we had to stay put, however we were offered a nights complimentary parking which we accepted. The next day we moved rooms, however we had to wait until 4pm for our new room to be available (our vacating our initial room at 10am) after initially being told it would be available by 1pm! This was a little annoying given that the prior occupiers of the room must have checked out by at least midday! No harm was done though and we really loved our new room which was very similar to our original room, but bigger! It also had a separate shower and bath and a TV in the bathroom. The only things that were missing from the room was the provision of complementary water (which should be expected in this grade of hotel) and a coffee maker (although we understand these were available on request). The pool area was stunning, it was a real sun trap and has panoramic views of the City and surrounding hills. There is a very hot hot tub which is lovely! The veranda area is also beautiful and relaxing! It is also really nice to go and chill on the rooftop after dinner next to the fire (which appears to be gas so doesn't actually give out much heat, however there are patio heaters which keep you nice and warm)! On the morning we were checking out we wanted to go up to the rooftop for one last look at the view, as there is only 1 elevator which goes up to the roof we ended up waiting for about 15 mins!!! It transpired that this was because the hotel were in the process of taking furniture and a bar etc to the roof for a private party! We felt there should be a separate service elevator for these purposes. Although it didn't affect us, the veranda was to be closed to guests that evening between 5-8pm for a private party which we would have been very annoyed about if we were staying as one of the main selling points of the hotel is that you can chill out on the veranda having a complimentary glass of wine between 5-6pm (but not a minute longer, we went down one evening at 6.01 and the wine hour couldn't be seen for dust) before dinner! Overall however we thought this was a beautiful hotel and would recommend it to a friend!
