Even though I arrived at the restaurant around the closing time, the service and the food were perfect. I also went to Bouchon at Yountville (Nappa Valley), but I liked this one more.

It was out first trip to Santa Barbara and while we were not especially enthralled with some of our dining experiences in the State Street area, our dinner at Bouchon was first class. Loved that we could walk there from our hotel (Canary on Carillo St). The restaurant has a sophisticated vibe, but maintains a casual Santa Barbara charm without being snobby. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even a little funny, which we enjoyed. We started with a super fresh salad and then my BF had a melt-in-your-mouth delicious pork shank and I had fresh fish - yum! The wine was also very good and well-paired with our dishes. You're going to spend some money on this dinner, but if you are a foodie, you will love it!

My husband and I were in Santa Barbara for a wine festival and decided to try Bouchon for dinner. Wow! What a great dining experience. From the outstanding list of regional wines, to the fresh food, and excellent service, we were very impressed. (Rivals anything that San Francisco offered from an earlier visit.) And the server knew the local wines to pair with the food courses. A must visit in Santa Barbara!

Santa Barbara meets Zuni Cafe. Packed on Monday night, upscale casual but not too loud. A shared scallop special featured 3 humungous and perfect scallops each prepared a different way, and 2 of those 3 preparations were more successful than the first (the waiter indicated a proper order, which was helpful) particularly the risotto. Our mains of tuna and venison were large as were the complementary starches/vegetables and just plain delicious. The wines by the glass list was excellent, if parochial. For example, the Tyler Zotovich Chard, while served too cold, was superb and was well priced by the bottle @$50, but can't say I'm a fan of the all-CA wine lists (save overpriced mediocre Champagne) we had on this trip.

Coming from San Francisco we know good restaurants, and this is up there with the best of them. It's casual and comfortable but the food is exquisitely prepared and presented. From the scallops and Tartine aux Champignons to the Wagyu steak and lamb to the glazed duck breast , it was all amazing. We brought a bottle of Pinot and bought one , but still got charged corkage. The service was the only weak link , not bad but awkward. We sat outside on a perfectly warm night and it added to the exotic feel of the dinner. The meal lasted about 2 hours and made the southern Cal visit unique and special.
