We went to Bouchon for dinner on our first night in Santa Barbara. I believe our waiter's name was Steven and both he and the restaurant were fantastic. It was a very lively atmosphere wide open to the street. I highly recommend the crab cakes, scallops (ours were about 2x the size of typical scallops) and blueberry ice cream (likely the best ice cream we've ever had). Our waiter was also great at recommending some amazing local wines. Next time we are in Santa Barbara we will definitely return here.

While the food was excellent, the highlight of the meal was the service, which was some of the best I can remember. It didn't, however, outshine the food, which included dungeness crab cakes and a duo of duck. The ambiance matches the Californian location, casually elegant. A trip to Santa Barbara wouldn't be complete without a trip here.

Wonderful setting, great food, knowledgable and friendly staff. What more does anyone need! We were a group of 10 and sat in the private dining room. We had a set menu that was perfectly balanced with something for everyone. Delicious breads, salads, and my lamb was the best I've had in a long time! Everything looked and tasted divine!

Our waiter had some great menu and wine suggestions. We started off sharing sautéed champignons with tomatoes and baby spinach in a wine emulsion with a local Chardonnay. My venison medallions and my wife's local sea bass were outstanding with the Santa Rita Pinot Noir. The lemon blueberry cake we shared was delicious and creative. Contrary to an earlier Tripadvisor review regarding the alleged obscene portion sizes and cost, we found the portions quite generous but not overwhelming and together we spent $210 with tip that included 6 moderate to high priced wines by the glass. The atmosphere and menu choices were more typical of a fine dining experience. However, our meals were more intricate to prepare and equally as good as our meals from Maggie's and the Pierre Lafond Wine Bistro the previous two nights. We dined a little early on a weekday night, but still needed reservations. When we arrived the place was filling up.
