Description: Joe's Cafe, a venerable Santa Barbara dining and drinking institution, is the oldest restaurant in the city. Over the years, it has become a favorite for locals and tourists alike, who mingle over cocktails or chat during dinner in a buzzing, traditional atmosphere. The exceptional ambiance underscores its rich heritage and long history. Our menu is hand crafted, modern American favorites in generous portions. Diners can find everything from prime steaks and chops, savory lamb shank, market fresh seafood and vegetables, classic sandwiches, pastas, daily soups, burgers, vegetarian entrees, and salads.

I lived in Santa Barbara for a few year in college and one of the cornerstone businesses in the community is Joe's Café. The locals know this spot for two things, French Dip Sandwiches and some of the stiffest cocktails in town. The décor of the bar spans some 70 years as does the artwork, and gives you the feeling of being in an old Spanish Fort settlement town.
This is a primary watering hole for most locals and a starting point for many a weekend evening. This is a place where old and young alike, retired and those in college come to have great food, and even better company. If your looking for a casual meal at a the right price then Joe's is a place to consider.

I guess I summarized my review in the title. Joe's of Santa Barbara has been around since the 1920s. They have great food and excellent service at a really good price. We had breakfast and afternoon drinks several times and always left feeling good - like we made a right choice. The best parking is in lot #11 which is directly behind Joe's. Santa Barbara gives the first 75 minutes free, and only $1.50 per hour for any time over.

This is a great all around place, nice bar, good food. No exotic foods, just real food at a real price.

Great meats and seafood, they could charge much more, its great value. Pork Chop is huge and perfect every time. Steaks same. Its been around for years and several waiters & bartenders have been there over 25 years. They know how to make you feel welcome and itsfun and reliable like few other spots in SB.

We had breakfast here for 3 days in a row (stayed at Harbor View Inn on the waterfront) and loved everything about it.
Service (Ruth) was top notch - friendly, attentive, and made great suggestions.
Most importantly the food was the best and healthy. I had poached eggs on toastm with avocado and tomato - tasted great.
The orange juice (freshly squeezed) was the best juice we had tasted in USA. Wonderfully fresh
My son had the pancakes - delicious.
My wife had the best cup of tea she had tasted in USA
