We had a fantastic lunch here in the courtyard, which is really the restaurant. Excellent crab & corn bisque, 1/2 pastrami sandwich which also comes with small side salad..enough to make it also dinner… almost spoiled our dinner, but have no fear we made it to Bouchon! Would not have known of Arts & Letters without the recommendation of the Spanish Garden Inn…definitely would go again.

“Best patio luncheon in Santa Barbara”
Reviewed December 3, 2013

The six of us returned, yet again, for this delightful, well-staffed spot just off State Street across from the museum and set just behind a superb gallery. We shared delicious fresh salads, sandwiches, soups and desserts and enjoyed the most acceptable wine list. Set in a lovely courtyard with an adjoining room, what could be better for an afternoon break after enjoying the sights of State Street galleries and shops. This place is a must and we’ll be back – again and again. Reasonably priced. Recommended

“Delightful”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

Tucked behind an art gallery is the charming and delightful Arts and Letters Cafe, set in a garden complete with fountain. The menu features soups, salads sandwiches and pasta -- each a tasty treat. We had the noodles of the day. Pasta was home made and the sauce delicious. Both the pumpkin and curry soups were outstanding. We would definitely go again.

“Charming Excellence”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

Although just a lunch location, its ambiance and food quality make this the favorite spot for many locals. I've tried lots of salads and sandwiches on their menu and am never disappointed. From the Pumpkin Soup to the Curry Chicken it all tastes fresh and keeps the palate engaged. Walk through what is probably the best gallery in town to the courtyard inside - very sophisticated!

Charming little place that unfortunately isn't open for dinner. Patio dining there would be delightful. Food is good for a sandwich joint! Like I dais... Wish it were open for dinner.
