“Better than you'd think”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013

Fishouse has some good food and decent service, which is better than you'd think given its location near the wharf and facing the beach. You'd expect a touristy place with mediocre food. The food is tasty and fairly priced.

“Mediocre in Every Respect Except a Good Martini!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

This is a long time Santa Barbara family and tourist draw that does a great business--but we have to wonder why? Fish House is one of three restaurants under the same ownership--and the other two are superior to this one. Santa Barbara is so full of so many good restaurants that it is hard to explain why a place that serves such mediocre food does so well. Our fried clamari, crab cakes, shrimp cocktail, and lettuce wedge were all OK--but no better than that. And the flan we had for dessert at $7.95 was incredibly overpriced, undersized, and hardly had any taste.
However if you want a really good martini, stay at the bar and enjoy--and stay away from the forgettable food!

“Quaint pacific coast fish restaurant!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013 via mobile

We stumbled across this unique restaurant after a mini-walking wine tour from Corks & Crowns just down the street. We walked in and immediately loved the warm inviting atmosphere, old-style pacific coast fish restaurant charm and the gorgeous location right along the water. Beautifully illuminated for holidays and fire pit out front allowed for outdoor dining in December!

“Better options out there....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2013

Our hotel recommended this place. I think you can find this kind of place in most coastal cities. It was a Friday night and it was packed with a crazy wait. We sat at the bar where the service was actually pretty good. Drinks were great. The food was okay. The service was mediocre. The sushi tuna was good but it's kind of hard to mess this up unless the tuna is bad. Would recommend a different, less "chain like" feel....

“I don't get the hype”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

I have been here a few times. Last week was my most recent visit for a birthday happy hour. I felt for a "happy hour" I really wasn't getting much of a happy hour savings. The drinks were average and so was the food. I had the happy hour clam chowder in a bread bowl with a side salad that was $10. There was nothing special about the chowder or salad. The service was prompt but we got overcharged at the end for items we never ordered. I have a lot of friends that frequent this place, especially for happy hour, but there is another seafood restaurant just a couple blocks away that has much better happy hour specials and the food is much better.
