Description: Just a few blocks from the waterfront, our restaurant in Santa Barbara operates in a century-old brick building originally home to an industrial linen service for seaside hotels. While the Douglas fir floors, soaring ceilings, and glassed cupola have always been features of this historic structure, the sweeping arches facing State Street were added after much of the building crumbled during the 1925 Santa Barbara earthquake. Built in 1917, the historic building now home to our Santa Monica restaurant was once a transfer station for the narrow-gauge Red Car line, Los Angeles' first mass transit system. It was later the repair house for the world-famous Pacific Ocean Park, home to the oldest wooden roller coaster west of the Mississippi. These days, we're still a stone's throw from Venice Beach, heart of where L.A. goes to play -- and eat.

“Good food good atmosphere not a romantic atmosphere”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2011

Went on a Friday night had a 30 min. wait. Had Halibut and coconut shrimp. Both were very good.
Service was good only draw back was the server asked what side we wanted. I thought they were part of the price and they were not. up sale and I did not know it.

Overall recommend going here than any place on the pier.
Prices not bad.

“Lunch, wonderfully friendly staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2011

Friday afternoon in Aug'10. Staff was very friendly, sociable, hoping we'd come back often. Late light lunch, not crowded, a range of meals for the 4 of us, all lively seniors. Food was nicely presented, very tasty, atmoshere very nice near a long slim fish tank. Total bill about $75, lunch for 4, no wine. Good clam chowder, also.

“Beware the trap!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2011

Beware the trap!
According to the table or you install, the price is not the same!
This can range from one to two!
Indeed, over night, we ate the same thing, oysters, fish and wine, but the first night the bar, and the second room. I said that we did not request special table as there was no question of happy-hours.
Even after complaint to the manager, the bill was double.
It is inexplicable and unacceptable.

Enjoyed the scallops and risotto. Good staff with a relaxed ambiance. Everyone at the table of four enjoyed their food.
