“Delightful place for lunch!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2014

We were in Santa Barbara for a few days and decided to have lunch at Opal Restaurant based on trip advisor reviews. The restaurant is on a main street with a few tables outside for those who wish to dine "al fresco". We chose to eat inside. The restaurant is small with a "homey" feel and was busy during the week at 1 p.m. which is always a good sign! Two of us ordered the Phyllo Prawn salad which was absolutely delicious - there were two different dressings, a tart one for the salad greens and a thick curry dressing for the prawns which were cooked to perfection in crispy but not overpowering phyllo dough. Well worth a visit and do try that salad!

“More than expected”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2014 via mobile

Exceeded expectations. Lobster bisque had great flavor of ginger and seafood. Caesar was tasty and fresh. homemade tomato linguini in chicken broth was unique in flavor and deliciousness and shrimp red pepper basil pizza great. Awesome grapefruit vodka martini $78 for two martins, beer, and all the food. Loved it. Will go back. Many other things I would try

“Upbeat and delicious”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2014

We stopped into Opal for a late lunch and the restaurant had a very brisk lunch business. We were seated after a few minutes' wait. The menu featured a wide variety of choices, ranging from salads, pasta, and heavier entrees. All were prepared with an interesting combo of fresh ingredients. The atmosphere was very upbeat and the decor was very warm and cozy. I wanted to come back again to try a different menu item since they all sounded very good. We would definitely come back if we visited Santa Barbara again!

“Between average and very good. Just GOOD!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2014 via mobile

I'm visiting from SF, my friend recommended Opal, so we tried it. The service was GREAT, super attentive and friendly. The mushroom soup delicious, the fried oysters average, and the halibut was very good, we didn't have dessert, one glass of wine and one cocktail, over $88 w/tip. I think is a good place to eat but I guess I was expecting a more complex menu or above average at least. I think they should eliminate some items and take the rest to the next level.

“Best herb steak”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2014 via mobile

I go here every time I visit Santa Barbara. Great service and their herb crusted steak is so amazing. No room for dessert, always fill up on entree and their great bread.
