Description: Located in a 1915 vintage brick and stucco building that once housed an Italian bakery, and La Paloma Cafe, this landmark building has been the home of Paradise Cafe since 1981. Customers can enjoy Paradise Cafe on the heated patio, in the dining room, or the art deco-inspired bar. The Paradise Cafe has the first and only grill to use Santa Maria live oak wood in the city of Santa Barbara. We specialize in prime steaks, fresh fish, and of course, our famous Paradise Burger broiled over the first and only live oak wood grill in Santa Barbara. Combine that with our fabulous vegetarian entrees, pastas, soups, salads, and our Decadent Paradise Pie, and we have something for every palate!

The Paradise Cafe has been around so long it could have been a set for "Miss Sadie Thompson". The decor is strictly old school linoleum, and the sugar and Splenda have been on the table so long the contents are clumped. This is not a place for your Beverly Hills cousins. Still the service is excellent, the greeting warm, and the club sandwich was one of the best I've ever enjoyed. When you want good simple food and very plain surroundings, this is the place for you.

We wanted a good hamburger and this was the restaurant that was recommended. We were not disappointed. The meat was excellent and the buns were not too thick, as you sometimes get. We sat outside on a beautiful evening. The service was great. If you crave a hamburger, this is the place to go. They had many other items on their menu, as well.

I used to work around the corner from here...about 25 years ago. I ate lunch here A LOT! I moved from California, but visit here whenever I'm in town. Our most recent visit was for dinner with friends on a Friday night. We had no reservation, but still were seated right away. The vibe is refined but relaxed...very Santa Barbara. I had the Ortega Burger (red meat a rarity for me!) and it was delicious. Really, I've never had a bad thing on the menu, breakfast, lunch or dinner.

If you want to experience good food, good service and the true vibe of older, less pretentious Santa Barbara, Paradise Cafe should be on you list.

After a weekend of big meals, we wanted something simple - a burger. We had driven buy this place a thousand times but never stopped. The on-line reviews were are great.

Paradise Cafe has been around nearly 30 years. And for good reason. Comfortable surroundings, and outdoor eating areas that are all nicely heated. And great comfort food.

My wife had a Paradise Burger. She added bacon and cheddar cheese. A great Burger!. I had a half Cobb salad, and we wound up sharing each others meals.

Not a lot to say here other than we will be back, and you should go if burgers, salad, sandwiches and a full bar is what you are looking for,
