When America does chain restaurants we like them but when they do “fine dining” it can get a bit posey and over the top. I think Toma is in this category but their clientele, a very patrician crowd at first glance, appreciate this. The bill including tip was $112.20, £69.79 for 2 including a bottle of wine and 2 courses. Big portions, good service, look at the menu carefully before going in to make sure its what you want.

Found this restaurant on Tripadvisor and the recommendation was confirmed by our nearby hotel, Brisas del Mar. Couldn't get in our first night so booked for following evening. The service was great. The food delicious especially the black spaghetti dish. The whole evening was very pleasant. I would love to go to this restaurant again.

We had an opportunity to visit my daughter on her family weekend at UCSB and found Toma restaurant. It is a little on the pricey side, but every dish we had was outstanding. My son tried the black spaghetti which had calamari, clams, Calabrese in a white wine sauce. The lasagne was outstanding, but thought it might be a bit much if I cleaned the plate with the bread. They do offer a Caesar chicken salad off of the menu. We had the chocolate torte as a family which was perfect since we were all stuffed. We met Gary who greeted us at the door and met a new friend Trey. Make sure you seek both of them out as they made our dinner a great experience. What I will also say about Toma's is that it had a great atmosphere with people laughing, having fun which made it feel like we were at mamas having a family dinner at home. Enjoy.

Traveling from out of town, Toma's was recommended to us from several people we met and our hotel. Had to make reservations early but still extremely easy. The food, wine and service was terrific. We even had the owner come to our table to introduce himself and ask how we were enjoying the meal...nice touch! We sat down at 6:30 and finished up at 9:30 with some excellent deserts. Definitely heading back when back in town!
