“Beware the lemmings!”
Reviewed May 27, 2013 via mobile

Beware the lemmings who line up here for no good reason other than to be seen and overpay for some less than authentic food. If you're in the mood for some first rate authentic food go down the street to either Los Agaves or La Colmena!

“Long, long lines, excellent food.”
Reviewed May 17, 2013 via mobile

This is of our favorite stops when we travel through Dsnta Barbara. The food is delicious. However, due to its popularly the wait time can be 45 minutes in line if you arrive after 11:30 a.m. Several times we have given up! It's a no frills place, and not a typical Mexican restaurant - no chips, but great food. Love the guacamole, and the daily specials are amazing.

“Toto, I don't think were at Chipotle anymore...”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

This is simply great simple food, providing pur flavors. The food is best described as rustic, and is devoid of heavy handed sauces and seasonings. The vegetables are flame roasted to perfection (al dente). Each of the menu items provides a great balance of veggies, (marinated) meat, and usually a cheese. On the menu, there are some 20 fixed items and 3-5 daily specials. If you order only one item, Number 16, Super Rica Especial, is the classic. You'll get a pile of roasted Poblano/Pasilla chiles mixed with a nutty swiss-like cheese and marinated pork. Tacos on the menu are kind of torta-style, with meat and cheese served between two of the delicious tortillas described in the other reviews. Look, if you come to La Super-Rica Taqueria expecting an other-worldly Mexican food experience, twising the the recommendation of Julia Child beyond the original meaning, you are going to feel disappointed. The point is to savor the tastes and mouthfeel of La Super Rica's authentic roadside cuisine without the dust and tow-stroke motor exhaust that you would be experiencing if you were to eat this food in its native setting! Enjoy.

“I love this place”
Reviewed May 3, 2013

Don't expect to order bean burritos here. The food is unlike most California-Mexican food so don't expect the usual fare since this is unique, Chiappas-style cuisine. Small plates, usually takes two for a meal, allow you to try different flavours and offerings. The corn tortillas are made by hand, individually, as you order; and they are delicious! My favourites include the rajas, and cheese rellenos covered in a rich, creamy, magnificent white sauce. We've brought out of town friends here for a treat and they always love it. It looks a bit like a hole in the wall but the food is fantastic. We go at least 2-3 times every month. There's a regular board and a daily specials board. Sometimes the lines are long and you have to wait but the eating, cooking and ordering flow so that, once you order, you'll find a seat. Oh, and they take cash only so be prepared for $5-$12 pp without alcohol. So yummy!
