Description: We are a casual seafood house that is located right on the dock in the Santa Barbara Harbor. You’ll find a bustling scene of fisherman, young professionals and sand-sprinkled beach-goers nearly every night of the week at this true-blue waterfront institution. Dungeness crab cocktail, oysters on the half-shell and fried shrimp round out the “small” menu offerings. Fresh fish specials, such as grilled white sea bass from local waters, mahi mahi dusted in Cajun spices and pan-blackened local yellowtail, are highlights on the “long” menu. No matter what, libations are always in order at this locals’ favorite gathering place. Everyone is welcome at Brophy's, hope to see you soon.

“Craving oysters”
Reviewed May 30, 2014 via mobile

here we are on a Wednesday evening around 7pm and this place is bustling and a table for 2 a 35 min wait. Ok we went outside and stood at the outside bar and ordered drinks. While we wait we see oyster shooters being assembled and peaked our interest. My husband loves to know where the seafood comes from and we were both shocked to find most of their seafood comes from elsewhere. Crazy. Anyway back to the shooters yummy and the horseradish was tasty and hot. Whew water please and thank you in advance. Heat goes away but hear we go again it is 'Question & Answer Time" and the next question was where is your horseradish from and they said Seaside hum never heard of that one before we use atomic but this Seaside is better and I am making a mental note to find more information about this Seafood horseradish. Anyway on to the rest of evening we are finally seated and ordered cup of clam chowder and oysters. Clam chowder pretty good a lot of clams and we both love that. Oysters were good too. Then we thought lets have more clams so we had little neck clams and have we were in clam heaven. Entrees ordered and my husband ordered dungeness crab and I the Sea bass. Well to my husband's dismay they were out. So what the heck he had peel & eat shrimp (I think that is what the call it other seafood restaurants do). My Sea bass was either really over cooked or wasn't sea bass at all. Return of my food and ordered the Poke salad and that put a smile on my face again. Very good. Thanks to our beautiful server "Courtney" for taking such good care of us and the rest of the staff who made us feel welcomed.

“Suprisingly tasty crab”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

Fantastic view right on the harbor looking out over all the boats towards Stearns Wharf and the ocean. Considering the location, food expectations not too high-typically restaurants right on a wharf or harbor provide overpriced poor quality seafood since most of the cost of the food needs to cover the expensive lease rates for premium on-water locations. Brophy's is able to provide a tasty dungeness crab platter and spicy Bloody Mary at a reasonable touristy price but definitely not a bargain price. Not impressed with the clam chowder, in spite of too many overly generous reviews-needs more actual clams and not as much space filling potato. By the time removed all the carb-heavy potato chunks, there were hardly any clams to enjoy. Next time you visit test that out-compare amount of clams VS potato before saying this is the best chowder you have ever had. Only two decent quality on-water choices-Brophy's and SB Shellfish Company on Stearn's; avoid the others.

“Relaxed atmosphere”

This is a great down to earth Resturant. The food is good and it looks out at the docks if you sit outside. Interesting to watch all the fisherman unloading the days catch.

This is a great, local joint with wonderful seafood, beer, wine, full bar. There is usually a wait, no matter what time of the day you eat! Just wait your turn, ,it is worth it.Very affordable and casual. Love sitting outside. Been here forever.
