Description: We are a casual seafood house that is located right on the dock in the Santa Barbara Harbor. You’ll find a bustling scene of fisherman, young professionals and sand-sprinkled beach-goers nearly every night of the week at this true-blue waterfront institution. Dungeness crab cocktail, oysters on the half-shell and fried shrimp round out the “small” menu offerings. Fresh fish specials, such as grilled white sea bass from local waters, mahi mahi dusted in Cajun spices and pan-blackened local yellowtail, are highlights on the “long” menu. No matter what, libations are always in order at this locals’ favorite gathering place. Everyone is welcome at Brophy's, hope to see you soon.

“great seafood and harbor view”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

great place to watch the boats come in and unload the catches of the day.. While waiting for our seat, we waked to pier across from restaurant and got a chance to eat fresh uni cracked open from one of the boat captain/divers.. yummy. Outdoor terrace deck is a must for the view of harbor and boats coming in at dinner time... Great seafood, seabass was great and oysters fresh. Friendly staff who helped guide us the fresh catch of the day and wine choices.. Lively and loud inside but cute romantic outside on deck to watch sunset. .wish they had a dessert menu though to end the night.

“Great food and great atmosphere”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

Great food and great atmosphere. The seafood is very fresh and high quality. We had the clam chowder, crab cakes, salad, steamed clams, and cioppino (fish stew). Everything was fabulous, and we know our seafood. The crab cakes were a real treat, and made to perfection (hard to accomplish for most restaurants). The restaurant overlooks the harbor where the fishing boats come in to drop their catch. You need to sit along the bay side or at the bar to see this. We sat at the bar and it was like having our own personal viewing stand and our own personal chef. Outstanding, polite and professional service.

“long wait potential ...little to wait for”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Pleasant "happening" atmosphere with bar views through open windows to the harbor and mountains beyond. The prices were also reasonable. These must explain the long lines because the food certainly doesn't. We had three of the house specialties: the cioppino, the chowder and the calimari. The cioppino base was so sad, flat, thick and dull that it seemed shameful to waste perfectly good clams and fish in it. The chowder might have been canned. It was as thick with flour as it was thin on clams. The calimari was just OK: deep fried over cooked and served with two off-the-shelf sauces. The staff seemed friendly and competent. The atmosphere seemed cozy and fun.

“Always worth a visit”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Finally lucked out and didn't have to wait for a table. (got there after 9pm) As usual, the service, food and atmosphere were wonderful. The GBCs are amazing and this is from someone who doesn't like shell fish. (Garlic Baked Clams) Just try them!

“Bloody Mary, Clams and a view”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

There are now 2 Brophy Bros. restaurants, one in Santa Barbara (which is the one I'm reviewing) and one in Ventura (which I did not enjoy nearly as much, so no review).

The one in Santa Barbara has some of the best seafood dishes I've ever had. Steamers are fantastic, and if seafood isn't your thing, the hamburgers are great too.

My bloody mary was the best I have had anywhere, anytime, and I watched the bartender make it with all fresh ingredients.

It's always crowded and there is probably going to be a wait no matter when you go, but it's worth it to wait even a bit longer for a table on the outside deck.
Beautiful view to enjoy with your great meal.
